Most of my mania has presented during mixed episodes and only once or twice have I ever experienced pure euphoric mania. My hypomanic episodes often manifest as euphoric but when I switch to mania they turn mixed. Does anyone else experience their mania this way? I have been diagnosed BP1 mainly due to my horror mixed episodes.
Note: My doctor has put me on Lithium to treat it and I had to go off it while having ECT and noticed my irritability and agitation go through the roof into another mixed episode. This is why I am on such a high dose of Olanzqpine (ZYPREXA) at the moment.

I have mixed BP1 as well.
I get euphoria, agitation at the same time. It is very hard to deal with. What is ECT? Electroconvulsive treatment? |

Yes. ECT is electro-convulsive treatment.

I distinctly remember when I was 18-19 I refused to believe the bp DX because I was never happy, just switching from exhausting depression to hyped up anger and irritability.
Now I see the mixed episodes.

The closest i get to euphoria is grandiose thoughts, may or may not come with agitation. Agitation is definitely always a part of my mixed episodes

My niece has euphoric, ultra highs, of course, when in that state she also believes God is talking to her and she is psychic and telepathic.
Sometimes I envy her, my mania is almost always mixed. Agitation, easy to irritate, depressed with a lot of energy. Not a good combination.

My hypo into mania is euphoric but then takes a turn for the worst into a mixed/and or loss of touch with reality

I turn into the most cheerful person alive. I can't get mad for nothing, but if I do manage to cross that line, I'm insanely pissed.

My one and only identifiable episode was a few days of extreme irritability, followed by a deeply uncharacteristic anger outburst. I can't at all relate to people who say they miss mania once they're on meds because they enjoyed how it felt. That wasn't my experience and I never want to feel that way again.
I hope the ECT does good for you! |

Or last yr i ended up in hospital too many times because i kept going into euphoric mania then switching into suicidal disoriented mixed. At the hospital it was crazy. One day i was in bed all day the next day i was euphoric in the stars. A full week of switching
That never happened to me before. So i guess what im rambling on about is anything is possible with bipolar! We know your pain and hope u feel better! ![]()

My depressions seem to always be very agitated now. I'm wired with the energy to Sh and make plans but hysterically crying 6 hours a day. I feel like I could run up and down he stairs a million times despite having all of my prn 4 mg clonz and 10 mg zyprexa plus 2 sleeping tablets I don't remember the name of. Yet I still have this internal energy that feels like or can only be released by Sh or running a marathon. My doc has put mixed state on my papers

I can definitely relate to this. I've hardly ever had the super up, happy mania....and those few I have could just be me in a good mood. lol It's so rare I just don't know. I always get the agitated, irritated, jumping out of my skin feeling. Not fun...horrible actually. ((hugs))

In hypomania I go from hyper, to hyper, sweet to down right mean and irritated. So watch out

Thank you for posting this topic. I don't experience elation either, just feel really irritable and like I want to rip someone's head off LOL. And I have periods where I feel like I can get a lot of stuff done, which is welcome after the depressive episodes where everything kind of goes by the wayside. Maybe that's hypomanic? I almost feel compelled to get all of these things done while I have the energy.

I experience perfect elation. But, if you get in my way, I rage and I usually hardly have a temper. However, I don't see this as a mixed episode; it's just part of my mania.

Mixed episodes only relate to BP, not MDD.
