Just thought I would post an update. I am on day 23 of Lamictal (50mg) and I think it might be working. I have been having alot of trouble sleeping due to mind racing and thoughts looping. Pdoc put me on Lunesta and told me to take every night for a month. I have alot of anxiety related to not being able to sleep and that combined with the actual tiredness make everything alot worse.

Therapy is chugging along. I feel calmer, steadier if that makes sense. Maybe I am just heading into another up swing? I hope not but it would be a welcome change to the depression. Things do not seem as hopeless as they did even a week ago. I think things might just work out Update

This is wonderful that you are feeling better.
Your pdoc has you going soooo slowly with the titration up...I take lamictal and I don't remember going that slowly.
I am sorry that you have been so depressed....lamictal is supposed to be helpful in that regard as well. Hopefully you will never get that depressed ever again.
I wish you wellness.

<font color="#000088"> Hey there -
Hope all is doing well as it can... in our conditions that is!!! Update
Just wanted to respond to you bcuz I too was just put on Lamictal, I really don't know the day bcuz my meds are ALL locked up (when I go manic, NOTHING is safe), and also had a little 'experience' w/Lunesta.

I hate to trash that med, all bcuz it is good for some but NOT good for another, so with that said, the Lunesta <MIGHT> be the issue.

All I remember was their commercial on TV regarding devoting 8 hours of un-interrupted sleep, etc. and I just laughed and laughed. It was a total joke, I was MORE anxious than calm, and the med did absolutely nothing for me.

Again, I emphasize that this was MY experience, quite similar to yours, which in my opinion, is not a med for you. Afterall, it is a NEW MEDICATION and all the 'quirks' haven't been worked out on us guinea pigs yet!!!

If I may ask, what other meds do u take? Here's my laundry list:
Depakote ER, 500MG, 3X/night;
Seroquel, 200MG, 1X/night;
Paxil, 30MG, 2X/day & night;
Xanax, 1MG, 4X/day (w/2 allowed @ night)
Lamictal, 50MG, still on the 'starter pack'.

That's just the psych. meds and i'm sure you're not interested in the rest. If I were to save all these, I literally could open my own pharmacy!!! Sad, but true.

Anywho - if you want & are comfortable, list the other meds as well as whatever else you want.. That's what we are here for!!

Hi,

Lamictal is a great med. I hope you continue to feel better.

<font color="#000088"> Bizi -

Not to tread on someone else's thread, but you mentioned the titration of the Lamictal and since I'm literally in the same boat, i.e. 'moving up', did you start out with one of those 'starter packs'?

That is what they gave me, I'm still on the every-other-day dosage, and I agree, 5 weeks until I'm at "full dosage" seems to be a long time....

Then again, sometimes we have to be our OWN doctors by consulting with each other and hearing what else is going on so we can compare so to speak.

I just hope it is (LOL) not 'all in my head' that every time I take the Lamictal dose, I get QUITE happy, but catatonic. I'd rather be this way then manic, paranoid, and believing my medication is poison, but it is short-lived. This is why I believe your statement of slow-titration up to be a VERY good question I need to bring up.

See - we never know who/when/how we help another by just making an observation!!! TY Bizi

If you are using the bubble pack then that is exactly the correct way to use this med.
I have a terrible memory and used the bubble pack also...
sorry if I questioned this.
Always follow your pdocs directions!
This ia a great medication for a lot of folks...so am crossing my fingers for you!

I am on Lamictal as well. I started out on the 25mg as well. I ended up in the hospital suicidal because of the down side of BPII. Anyway, since I was hospitalized, the doctors were able to titrate me up quickly. Went from 25 to 200 in 3 weeks. It it working along with Lexapro and 250 Seroquel. I hope you continue to titrate up with no side effects.

Yes I am on the starter pack. I started at 25mg every day and have 3 more days of 50mg. Met with pdoc today and am going to do 100 for 2 weeks, then 150 x 2w then finally 200 and hopefully that will be my dose.

I am not on anything other than the Lamictal and Lunesta at the present time. I dont want to be I hate taking meds and tend to become overwhelmed and quit all of them and end up in trouble.

Slow and steady wins the race?

Wow!
this is great that you are only having to take 2 meds.
That is fantastic!
keep with it...you can do this!
Steady and surely...one day at a time.
