The dulling effects of the new doses of my meds are pretty extreme. I thought it as tricky before, but now I'm simply glued down. I also have a hard time focusing in conversation and regularly find myself in a slumped posture staring into nowhere.Do you guys have any tips for dealing with this? Mental tricks, diet tricks? I exercise five days a week already, but I'm sure I could expand my coping skills in other areas. How do you come back to life?

What are you taking and how recently have you begun the 'pretty extreme' new doses? Maybe you just need time to adjust to the increased dosages. Five days of exercise a week is an impressive level of activity considering how much the medication affects you.

Seriously, 5 days a week is most impressive! I used to exercise that often, but my meds robbed me of that. Made me super lethargic.
I understand that zonked out feeling, though I must say I have no advice on how to make it go away other than asking your pdoc to lower the dose (if that is even an option right now). That's what I had to do and now I am finally getting my energy back. I hope once we hit the new target dose I will be able to get back to exercising regularly. I hope everything works out for you.

I'm on 200mg lamictal, 1500mg lithium, 50 mg seroquel to sleep, .5 Ativan for anxiety as needed. I exercise always no matter what. I do it to feel in control. I'm neurotic about it. I'm hoping it's just a case of adjusting, because this feels terrible! I feel so apathetic and spaced out!

I get this feeling often and I'm pretty active. I find a quick change in diet to help. Adding extra Vitamin C and fresh foods usually helps me within a day or two. If you suffer from body pain try sea salt baths. It's amazing what they can do.

My doc was so responsive to my concerns! She wants me to ride it out for two weeks, and if things are still awful we will change things around.
