Seriously! It cleanses and nourishes my soul. However, at this particular moment, I have tears streaming down my face and my music, perhaps, is making me more depressed.

I couldn't agree with you more cash.
Soooooooooooooooo true. In some respects, music is my "therapy". For me, personally, there's nothing like an uplifting tune to beat the blues. Thanks for the reminder ![]() |

I've gotten caught with a weird music thing this time around. I generally will pick one group/performer and listen to everything they've done over and over when not doing well but I will still listen to other music. This time any unexpected noise bothers me a lot so I'm limiting music to stuff with no surprises. I have plenty that I could listen to but have listened to the same 7 songs on repeat and nothing else for weeks. Even my 6 hour drive day was those 7 songs all day long. They aren't getting old and I don't even known the words yet but I feel safe with those songs. It's still pretty weird that 7 songs can not annoy me after that much time. Whatever works I guess.

Music is such a powerful influence for me. It takes me over. Right now I'm listening to the same few songs over and over again. Facilitates the imagination and serves as a distraction from real life...which is CRAZY right now as always. When I think about it I wouldn't have it any other way. Living an epic life.

I do this too.
As for whether or not it is making you feel more depressed...for me managing the depression requires sort of a balancing act between indulging the mood and giving into it and acting opposite the urge and making sure to still engage in the world somehow. It is hard as a mom with kids in your face to really get the space to soak in your depression a little bit. I'm all for the take a walk, go out, etc advice for depression but for me I also really need some time to lie in the dark and just release everything and be with it. |

I love music too and try to avoid downer sorts of songs. I listen to those that remind me of happier times where I can build an image in my head about things that are good. At the same time (contradiction) I try not to live in the past or re-live the mistakes I made.
Music, in general, can soothe the soul. The magic is that it means different things to different people. |

Music helps me in daily life in general. I listen to it all the time. I'm listening to it right now. It relaxes and energizes me. Though some songs, like Metallica's "Fade to Black" can and do act like triggers sometimes or make episodes worse because I relate to them too much.

Music reflects my mood, never triggers. I can't stand slow and downer music when up. When down, I just can't stand music.

Spotify radio gets me through the day.
When I need to leave the house alone I always have headphones with me and only take them off when I need to. I am guilty of replaying songs over and over and also playing albums over and over and over again. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
