Pharmaceutical company that has covered my meds for a year has expired. I guess I will be stopping meds. I don't think I can get Medicaid as I still have just enough to afford gas and bills for a short time longer. Besides, I not a mechanic, but I think I would have better luck at rebuilding a transmission than navigating this complicated government bs just to apply.

How is it that Depacote is mind altering? In what ways does it change the brain chemistry? How will the chemistry change once I stop taking it?

Can you get another card? You could google Rx help, it should bring up a load of sites that offer help of some kind.

Oh yeah. We love that Obamacare. It really did a number on my mental health care. We're about to be done also.

I don't know how many mgs you take daily but I just checked on Walmart pharmacy website.....500mgs 60pills to a bottle is 21.05

When I had no prescription coverage , Walmart wanted almost 45.00 a month for my Xanax , A Local stand alone private pharmacy was almost 20.00 cheaper.

So call Walmart, Walgreens CVS and any local pharmacys, and tell them you need the self pay costs . Go with whoever is cheapest.

Depakote is a medication you can't just stop taking with out major risks.

****Also call your Pdocs office to let them know your year discount charge from the drug maker is running out, " usually" your Pdocs office can just fax them a form that will allow you to continue receiving it monthly without a lapse.

Hi Lunatic Fringe

I am really sorry to hear that this has happened.

It just doesn't seem right at all.

Unfortunately I am not from your country so I am unsure as to what to advise.

Just wanted to say it just doesn't seem to make sense if you can't get access to meds.

Hang in there.

Was it just a card? Those always only last one year. Have you called the manufacturer?

I always have to get a new card every year for one of my son's. Well I will be trying for my Latuda now too. Both are $70+ copays for me.

The system sounds so complicated over there. But somehow our government seems to idolise the US and want to start charging co-payments for GPs (bulk billing GPs are free at the moment). I have been too sick to follow the news lately (and all they want to show is drug runners getting shot in bali) but I'd love the government to see how many people are suffering in the US with complicated health systems so not to mess with ours!

I hope you can find a solution. Going off meds cold turkey is no walk in the park.

A lady at my clinic told me. See, they originally set it up for me. Supposedly, I just got my last month's supply. However, another lady said for me to get another wage statement. So I'm confused.

Actually, my visit to clinic was the worst that I've had. The nurse flips on my blood pressure. Then she tells me to take my Depacote at night. However, the doctor said to not change when I take Depacote whatsoever as it would affect my brain chems. And so then, I get 2 involved in my meds.

It would be like taking your vehicle to a garage for service, and you wind up with 2 or 3 mechanics at the same garage each with a different opinion. If I wasn't bald yesterday at my appt., I would be now.

Perhaps, they are going to set me back up for my meds via wage statement. I checked the med website, which sent me to another, which was as worthless as our pres., and I gave up.

I was paying on a sliding scale whch meant I was poor enough to get free care plus my meds were company sponsored. Now I have to pay a deductible plus my part of the premium plus the cost of meds. Being bipolar got expensive. :/

Oh, when I deem it is entirely unaffordable, I will cease all care just as I did for depression once and once for ocd. I have costs associated with blood pressure to deal with as well as deg. arthritis. I don't have the money to spread around to all of the issues, so I will pick and choose what to treat or stop all healthcare treatment.

The healthcare industry is as bad as the auto industry. They will nickel and dime you to death. If all of my money has to go to healthcare, I may as well be dead.

Yeah it's just not right Lunatic Fringe that you're having to pick and choose whatever treatment or stop all healthcare treatment

The costs associated with keeping up mental health expenses is horrible. I'm struggling. My employer fortunately pays half of my insurance premiums, and we have access to an FSA. I put the max amount allowed in it and still run out of money around the fall. Usually have to take smaller dosages of my meds to make it until the first of the year again. Therapy would be nice to put my son back in, but I can't afford it.

I don't know what I would do if either of us had other health problems.
