So, my PDoc decides that he prefers me being manic than suicidal and puts me on Cymbalta.

However, I feel extremely restless and suffer from extreme boredom. I quit one of three jobs and for the rest of Spring Break, I'm jobless, and it starts tomorrow. I am afraid of the "nothingness". I feel so restless all the time, and I don't know how I'm going to manage staying home, with nothing to do.

I see my PDoc tomorrow, do you guys know of any medication to limit that feeling? Anything that I could ask him to prescribe so that I don't feel this restless, counting every minute of the day? Time seems to be moving so slow lately....every activity is so boring.

The only things I know of that that helped me with that, you are already on. I'm sorry you are feeling this way.
Thanks for this!

Sleepless, I don't know of any meds that will help out, but I wish there was one because I'm suffering from it too.

Ritalin

The strattera is supposed to do that but higher doses should help.
Thanks for this!

Ritalin? Do you think it would work?

I found the following article:
I?m Now on Ritalin ? Is This What ?Normal? Feels Like or Am I on My Way to Mania? | Adventures of a Bipolar Mom

I think I might ask my doctor to prescribe me some. Hoping it wouldn't interact with my BP.

Amphetamines have certainly provided me with a certain 'drive to engage' in the past. Unfortunately, amphetamines have side effects which build over time, causing small changes that are difficult to notice until matters became extremely distressing. At that point my only recourse was to discontinue, and things are far less stressful now that I'm off of Vyvanse.

I'm on Ritalin. It helped when they first put me on it, to be more focused and have more energy, however, in the last couple of months I feel myself slipping back into the depression and boredom. I don't sleep as much when taking it but I still get really tired. It's not the miracle that I first thought it to be.

Best wishes, Gayle

Ive found a tranquilizer to be effective. Even Buspar settled me down when my anxiety spiked.

I don't wanna come off as *****y, so I will be as politically correct as possible....................

... but how about starting to look for activitiest and interest that are meaningful first.... before starting to look for pills that will make you... I don't know.... focus on the things you find meaningless at this moment....or some simply put your mind in such state that you don't care?

You quit a job, so there is a hole in your schedule. How long does the spring break last? A week? How about actually enjoying the down time and look for something that you may occupy yourself with? Why you have to stay home if there is nothing to do and you can't stand it?

I do suffer occasional restlessness... I get it, it is annoying feeling. The best "medicine" for it is to channel it into something. Artsy. Sure, I probably have beads, and ribbons and wires and paints and pastel worth of small fortune at home, but most of the time, it does take care of the feeling "I gotta do something". Sadly I don't have so much time for it lately.

You are already bored and restless, I don't think taking a stimulant is the best idea... You'll most likely just become even more restless and agitated.

Find stuff to pass the time with, activities, volunteering, hang out with people you may not have had time for before, spring clean, idk, just sounds like you need to do something with your free time.

Either that or ask pdoc to knock you out until you have a job again.

Sometimes I wish medically induced coma was a valid option for BP.

I think you guys are right. My PDoc said the same thing, so he just upped my dose of Straterra because of all the focus problems that I have been having as well.

Thank you for the sound advice! Sometimes, we need to hear it as it is, even if it's not what we want to hear. That's one of the reasons why I love this forum!
