Today I got in a fight with my partner. Usually when this happens I explode and things go from bad to worse.
I have a hard time walking away without saying some pretty hateful things.
Well, it started to escalate and I said what I needed and walked away!!
I did say one stupid thing, but caught it and just started distracting myself instead.

We haven't really talked since then, and I'm actually feeling okay.
Usually when we don't talk I purposefully say stuff just to end the silence. I've had great self control today!

I'm watching my nieces today (4kids in total!) the oldest kid is 4!! We have colored pictures, ate lunch and even made handprint stepping stones!

Doing all this after an argument makes me proud of myself.
Thanks for this!

Good for you! I'm the same way, I never back down from a fight especially with my spouse but I'm also learning to walk away & that I don't always have to be right. Like Dr Phil always says "Do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy?"

WTG!!! It sounds like your old pattern of arguing was like my old one. My GF & I have now reached the point where we promise never to go to bed angry (or at least calmly discussing our disagreement). Anger is so easy to cling to...but so hard to let roll off your back. Sounds like you're doing a great job!

Thank you every one so much!! It's my first time even being capable of that. I just joined not to long ago, and it truly is a relief to have a place to turn to. Thank you everyone!
