I've been recently re-diagnosed as bipolar 1 with psychotic features. what does that mean for my medicine? My new therapist said after looking at my medicine, Depakote ER 500 (2x), Celexa and Klonopin weren't antidepressants or mood stabilizers. What does this mean for my medicine possibly?

I've dealt with auditory hallucinations and increasing paranoia since originally diagnosed with bipolar 2. Thoughts?

What does "re-diagnosed" mean?

Paranoia is/can be common in BP.

What sort of auditory hallucinations?

She basically changed it from 2 to the 1 with hallucinations, I never had anything like that until the past few months. And things like hearing things when it's dead quiet.

I hear music, as if there is a radio playing somewhere in the distance.
My P.doc says that it is fairly common
When I first started hearing it (years ago), it was sort of discomforting.
Disturbing
Now, the music is just a part of who I am.

It's extremely odd to me because it's new. I was only originally diagnosed last year. It's been the chipmunks doing heavy metal music, to TV shows, to cartoons.

This week I am getting merry-go-round music, but I think that it is because I just started Lithium (was on Lamictal)

Usually it is 70s and 80s music

That sounds like the Merry-go-round music would get boring. I'm curious as to what they will change my medicine too.

I have the same diagnosis. They will most likely put you on a mood stabilizer with an anti-psychotic like risperdal or seroquel.

I get classical music that doesn't exist. This happens only during mania. Sometimes for variety I'll hear staticky voices over the radio, like when it's between stations.

It's not unusual to have a bipolar diagnosis changed. I started out BP-NOS and wound up BP 1 as the picture of my bipolarity evolved over time. But a good doctor will treat the symptoms, not a label, so I wouldn't worry so much about how your meds will change; they may not change at all.
