Does anyone feel that exercise kind of revs you up. Not in the good way, necessarily.

Yesterday I was feeling, flat, even a little low. Then I exercised for 45 mins and felt a bit more hypo, then had an appt, then had dinner with friend.

By that time I was feeling very hypo.

I almost feel I am rapid cycling. I don't know.

You always hear that exercise gives you energy.

I had this experience a few years back before I started my mood stabilzer. I had a really bad episode that lasted about a month before i fell into a really depressive episode. So I can relate to you.

I don't think so. Exercise makes feel better, gives me more energy and drive. I feel more alive. I myself wouldn't call it hypo, but more like being alive.

I find that when I'm already a little hypo, exercise kicks me into a higher gear. That isn't always a good thing.

That is what I am thinking. I will ask my Psychiatrist. Exercise doesn't always make me feel like that. Just when I am a bit more hypo.

Yep. I once pressure-washed the house for four hours straight. Then I went and transplanted six hydrangea bushes in my garden. I was still rarin' to go at 2 AM after doing all that.

These may be good articles to read.

Bphope.com Is exercise a mood lifter or a mania trigger?

Quora.com. In bipolar disorder, is going to the gym for a workout a trigger for hypomania?

There are several articles on experiences people have on exersice and its relation to hypomania.

If I'm already hypo or manic, exercise definitely feeds the mania. At my most manic, I would go out for a 30 mile bike ride at midnight. I though I was burning off nervous energy, but it did the opposite.

Thanks so much for this info. I had a theory it was doing that. It isn't just that i have more energy, it is that I am making myself a bit hypo. Like it is feeding itself.

It is different then being manic and doing a million things. It is like the exercise is causing me to have more energy.
