I’ve been wondering what is going on with my mind for awhile now, and I can’t seem to find an answer. I guess I’ll start where it began – in 7th grade. That’s when I started self-harm. I was 12 and I don’t even remember what was happening to me. Either way, my parents ended up finding out in a matter of months and I got into a lot of trouble. They wondered if I had depression but didn’t bother testing me. I stopped self-harm for a month or so, then started again when 8th grade hit me.

Hormones. They do crazy things to us. Learn some skills that work for you, do NOT go chasing a diagnosis, that could set you up for failure in life. Put it down to hormones and cope as best you can.

I think it could be a combination of hormones and ADHD, and the low self esteem could be a biproduct of the ADHD. There is a chance you have had depressions, but your extreme happinesses don't sound like mania to me.

I really couldn't tell Ya hun. Only a pdoc can make that call after months of testing. It sounds like anything from A to Z. If it's taking away from your daily living, then it can be a real problem. It seems like it has been going on for awhile. Just keep going to therapy and working with your mental health provider to come to an understanding of the possible cause. Good luck sweety.

You might have depression. It doesn't sound like Bipolar to me -- you're highs don't sound like mania -- but only a pdoc could tell you whether it is or not. If it's a problem that detracts from your ability to lead a good life, though, then seeking help from a therapist or pdoc is a useful thing to do. It's one of the best decisions I've made for myself. I hope you feel better soon.
