I'm gonna see what other options we have besides zyprexa. I'm just gaining too much on it.

I've tried, geodon and latuda and both gave me akathisia. Seroquel and risperdal weight gain. He had told me before all the activating one's will probably give me akathisia...

I also use zyprexa for sleep so I really can't think of anything I can replace it with. Ugh, but this weight gain has got to stop. So hope I can find another ap and another med for sleep. Wish me luck...

I've gained weight. He's adding topamax. Feel so insecure with this weight gain.

Does Topamax help with weight gain?

You might want to try Cogentin if Geodon and Latuda give you akathisia. Geodon gave me horrible akathisia, and finally the pdoc in the hospital prescribed me Cogentin and it all went away. Geodon has been my wonder drug and as an added bonus, it doesn't make you gain weight.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. Best of luck to you!

Ive tried all that you've mentioned. So tough trying to find a good one! I just stopped Latuda yesterday because of horrible akithesia ! I was so hoping itd be my replacement for zyprexa. I'm gaining too!

I hope you find the med that works for you! <3

I gained 45 lbs in a little over 4 months on Zyprexa. I ended my sophomore year a size 5 (in juniors) and started my junior year in a size 11 (also juniors). As soon as I stopped taking it, the weight just fell off of me. I will never take it again! I take Abilify now but I've never had akithesia either. I hope you find something that works and is weight neutral.

Yeah I'm gonna see how the topamax works. From what I've researched ppl only lose 10-15 lbs on it. Just stuck is how I feel on these meds....

Some people call it dopemax but I felt like a zombie. Im SUPER sensitive to most meds so don't be afraid. A lot of people do really well on it!

Yeah I heard it can impair your cognition...I'll just have to see how I do. Thanks for letting me know though.
