Am I the only one who gets worse symptoms when they work out. I get hallucinations during. I seem to get hypomanic after with super happiness and rapid speech and thoughts. Then about an hour after it turns to a mixed mood irritability with some depression. It makes no sense. I continue to do it because I know it's healthy for my body but my brain doesn't seem to agree. Could be my medication isn't working well ( it isn't) but it's still a weird problem? Anyone else have this?

No, you are not the only one with exercise induced mood cycles. I used to be part of a boot camp style work out class at our local gym. Great workout. Felt great. It was up beat and animated. I was feeling all the endorphins doing their work. That is until I hit the showers. As soon as I pulled the shower curtain I would break down in tears. I didn't know what to do. I knew if I stopped my classes I would take away the best tool I had to battle my depression, but at the same time, they were causing depression. It finally came to the point where I had to stop the classes and move on to an individualized work out. I hated watching all my friends go into class and know that I could be doing that too, But it was healthier to me to say no. I just needed to find a different form of exercise. There are so many options for exercise out there. Try different ones until you hit the one that works for you.

Exercise tends to make me hypomanic, if I wasn't already. I don't think we are the only ones to experience that.

I would suggest switching to yoga or pilates, Its a calmer way to work out, both options really are a effective way when it comes to exercise. My yoga workout it really hard actually, It just balances you, so calmer. It shouldn't trigger you to go up and up and up like the cardio and stuff is doing.

I noticed this during my last mania as well, and my psychiatrist confirmed it.
