I got a text earlier saying my Uncle Joe will possibly have a kidney transplant today! Hes been waiting for years with only one kidney and on dialysis for this possibility of good health! Im so scared for him and excited too. I cried, a lot when I got the text. I was in a restaurant and obviously made a bit of a scene from my table. Oops. Im waiting for a call saying hes absolutely having the surgery before heading to the hospital (Its 2 hours away and Id need to take my grandparents.) Its so scary. Im worried about him.

At the same time today I am sad and feel a bit down. Im having intrusive thoughts I DON'T want. Im hoping they go away.

Hallie, that's great news. I will keep you and him in my thoughts, let us know if it is today. Perhaps being busy at the hospital with family those thoughts will go away for today. Good luck to you both!

I hope it works for him! I have a friend who has been through kidney transplants with both of her kids. I got the text version of the 2nd one and as strange as this sounds for what it is was surprised what as relatively fast and not that hard procedure it is once they finally have a donor approved. My friend's daughter was out of the OR in a few hours from the start of surgery and I saw the old kidney and new kidney and it was unbelievable that the old one could have done anything. It was practically pop the old out out and the new one in. I think she was home in 3 days, something like that. I pray it goes as well for your uncle.

So many successful kidney transplants happen every day. Keep that in your focus and hopefully that in combination with being surrounded by loved ones will help.

Well he did well. His potassium got high but they treated that. He looked so good. Great color! He was in pain and loopy from meds but talking to us just fine! The new kidney was functioning just yet but the nurse said that's normal. But he did gave a little urine so it's a great sign.

That's wonderful! Before long there will be yellow urine and it will seem like gold. When my friend's son had his transplant he was all excited when his urine was yellow because he didn't know urine was supposed to be yellow. His never had been before.
