Do you ever run out of things to say at the therapist? It has been 6months since I was diagnosed and after a few med changes I do feel better. I know that therapy is good for me, but.....I feel like we are just repeating the same conversation over and over. What now? I feel like if I stop then I will need it and not have it. I just don't know?

Have you said this to your therapist?

Therapy for me tends to go in cycles when I am doing well enough; we'll work hard on something for several months and then take a break and things will be relaxed for a few weeks and then we move to another topic. When I have an episode everything gets turned over into getting me through then eventually we try to go back.

But I have PTSD too and lack a lot of normal coping skills so that probably helps me have topics. My PTSD is well-controlled after intense therapy but I am still learning to cope in the real world, social skills, and some other stuff. I imagine I always will be since I've been in therapy for 13 continuous years and still need it and probably have done more like 17 years in my life.

Are you working toward an actual goals in T ? My T sessions are goal orientated. Like working on specific coping skills ( Can never have too many of those)

If your stalled in Therapy speak up . Your paying for help and if your circling the same ole same ole, then it's certainly time to shake things up..

Things that can be worked on

Coping skills as mentioned
Increasing self esteem
Learning how to communicate your feelings with others
Finding your specific triggers and how to hopefully lessen them
Learning how to love yourself.. Something most everyone struggles with ( I do)
How to change your thought process if your heading down a dark path

Anyway.. Just some things to consider. I'm sure there are hundreds more.

We have been working on my low self esteem, but I feel like it's not going to go away, I understand the points he makes, but my mind just knows me too well.

Yes, definitely, when I'm more on the stable to depressed side, sure.

[Atm, I'm pretty hypomanic and I can't shut up so we sometimes run past the hour].
