Hello.
Recently, I have been experiening what I thought was depression in the morning. I've recently discovered it's anxiety. Not to the point where I have an attack, but pretty bad. After, I become extremely irritable. I hate everything. I don't care about anything or anyone. I have to retreat to my room so I don't blow up on someone or get angry with my little one. (my husband is at home with him, so it's not like he's alone or anything). My doc recenly put me on Ritalin. I don't know if this is making my syptoms worse? I did have the anxiety prior to him putting me on this, but not nearly this bad and more depression later rather than terrible irritability.
I just was wondering if anyone had experience with this? Ritalin in particular?
I don't know what to tell the doc to do or what I want to happen. I CANNOT go on like this. My current meds are in my siggy. HELP PLEASE!!

You definitely need to let your doctor know what's going on. I take Ritalin and don't find it affects my anxiety. I had thought that it might so I quit taking it for a few days and couldn't tell any difference but everyone is different. Check with your doctor.

For me Ritalin is like an adrenaline shot, I guess it induced hypomania for me.
Tried twice different dosages, never touched it again. sucked.

From what I know, one should be very careful with Ritalin.

The Ritalin that I take is SR. So it's not the fast acting stuff.
I didn't take the Ritalin today to see what would happen.
I don't feel anxiety but I feel pretty depressed. I have no motivatioin.
I was very defensive in a conversation when I really didn't need to be at all. The person was trying to help.
So, I dunno. Maybe increase my Gabapentin?
I've brought up adding an anti-depressant, and my doc seems against it. Not sure why.

I don't know why I even bother posting on here. Someone who doesn't even have the illness gets 3 pages of replies and I get one reply? Thanks for the support.

Any kind of stimulant leaves me feeling depressed and anxious after the initial 'up'. I really can't take any of them. The crash is too bad.

Your condition sounds a lot like me. I get edgy, paranoid, etc and it leads to me being angry at everyone and everything.

Each condition can warrant a particular approach but if you're concerned about being angry or irritable all the time, perhaps an anti-convulsant will help. I take Depakote and it seems to be working well so far.

I took Adderall for a month and it threw me into a super euphoric manic episode, which I loved. I just thought I was happy for the first time in my life. And then it turned into a mixed episode, which made me want to die.

I can't take stimulants at all. I take Strattera for my ADD now.
