Has anyone ever taken Tramadol as a pain killer?
Did it work?
Any side-effects?

It's mild compared to others. However it interacts with a lot of psyc meds so if you are on any ask your doc. My doc changed it to Percocet stronger and interacts less.

I take Tramadol for Fibromyalgia pain. It works well for some types of pain and not for others eg it is useless for headaches. The only side effect I get is becoming itchy. You also have to be careful with dosage and mixing with anti-depressants as too much can lead to Serotonin Syndrome. I've had that and it is awful, and dangerous. Does your pdoc know your taking it? Still, I manage to take it safely and it helps.

It actually works for my headaches and I've had limited to no luck with other pain killers over the years.

The only common side effect I've come across (although I haven't experienced it myself) is that some people experience nausea. I'm not sure if its dosage related though, because I use higher dosage of pain killers than everybody I know.

Tried taking it for torn rotator cuff (shoulder) but spiked my anxiety...?
Did work well for pain tho.
Even tried cutting dose in half & same result.
Very disappointing considering the pain I was in.

I haven't ever taken them myself but my step-dad has been on them for many years for the pain caused by his arthritis.

Going from what he's told me, Tramadol makes him pretty drowsy and feel really sick and therefore he often avoids taking it and chooses to be in pain instead. Otherwise they can be effective for moderate to moderately severe pain but they're not a guaranteed step toward pain relief.

I took it for rheumatoid arthritis for years while on tons of psych meds. Gave me a teeny bit of euphoria when I started it, but that fades with time. I say it is slightly better than advil.

I have been taking it for years and it does help. I have fibro and an arthritic spine. I try to keep my dose fairly low, though. No side effects that I am aware of.

I took it at (too) high dosages when I was 14/15, often up to 600 mg a day. With it the pain was still unbearable (screaming-from-the-pain unbearable) but without the pain was even more unbearable.

I was still depressed when I was on it.
