Me, seroquel by far. Surprise surprise! I hate it so much. I've gained fifteen pounds in six months. I crave sweets like crazy. It's as intense as the cravings I had when I was pregnant, except then I just wanted cottage cheese and bacon and fish sandwiches (yuck on all three of those!). Now I'm obsessed with m&ms and candy bars. Not to mention the med is slooooooooowing me down. I can feel it slowing me down. My entire body is slowing down.
I think seroquel is great... If you have no life ambitions other than your job and don't mind working, sleeping, and eating all of the time. If I could get off of it without becoming severely depressed I would (tried it, didn't work out all that well). So looking forward to my appointment next thursday. I am so off it and getting a replacement! What medication do you hate the most?

I had a love/hate thing with Effexor back in the day. I was only on it for like a week and can't even remember the exact year or why I was on it, so I must have been very out of mind when I was put on it.
But all I can remember is that I couldn't do my job at work because I was too out of it, but also that I didn't give a **** about anything and it was amazing. My ex who started hooking up with my coworker like a week after our 3 year relationship ended, he walked by me one day while on Effexor and I did not feel anything. And I just started laughing like HAHAHA THIS IS THE ****. I was taken off of it because I couldn't function at work, though. That part sucked. It was one hell of a drug. |

Ah yes. Effexor. I was on that for like three days at one point. It made me so out of it too, like I was drunk or something. And it gave me all of these intrusive, disturbing thoughts, and it made me sick, and I started ultra rapid cycling, so I got off that fast!

Lithium. I have a love/hate relationship with it. On the plus it has significantly reduced my suicide risk by lowering agitation etc in mixed states but I have gained 20kg on it and want my old body back. I am planning to come off it in November when I have a three month break from university so I can more easily manage the side-effects and possible resumption of symptoms. I was on 1250mg a day but have at least got it down to 750mg.
Agomelatine was the worse drug I have ever had. It is an anti-depressant and it sent me into an out of control mixed state within days where I attempted suicide and nearly died. I begged the pdoc to get me off the med and help me as I was not in control of my actions and was going to kill myself. She said, "Well, I can't help you with that" and told me to come back in two weeks. I was nearly dead within hours. I should have sued the pdoc but I was too unwell.

Tegretol.
I have heard that the term "mood stabilizer" does not specify where your mood will be stabilized. That is so true. Tegretol kept me in a state of profound depression.

Yup, same for me. Seroquel skyrocketed my hunger. Sweets were a big part of my downfall. I think I gained something close to 70 pounds in 2-ish years. It was horrible. It really helped my anxiety though.

Mine's a double edged sword.
I love seroquel as an AP for me but it SUCKS as far as weight gain goes! Yuck. |

Risperdal. It made me agitated, gave me the 'jimmy legs', and totally wiped out my personality. I love to laugh and when I was on it (four months) I didn't smile or laugh once. Mind you, I was depressed, but when I got off of it my personality came back. It was extremely effective in breaking my psychosis, bit I would not want to be on it long term. Lamictal ftw!

Sadly, risperdal is also the worst med for me, it shot my prolactin levels off the charts which caused all sorts of sexual functioning issues. So I'm off it and trying out Abilify.

We hate APs...any and all. They have such hard effects on us. They cause us to passout, brain shocks, restlessness, headaches, cold sweats, sleep for ever, and vivid dreams.
Only Respiradal in a small dose of 1 mg PRN is my Rx. At least I only get knocked out for 6 hours. |

depakote. My body didn't process it well and I had to be on really high doses to keep me at a good blood level. It only worked when my blood level was high, pushing the dose even higher. It constantly changed so I had labs done all the time. I got to the point I could guess within a few points what my labs would say which amused my pdoc. I gained a lot of weight on it, especially because I was taking so much of it (3200 mgs at the end plus I was on 300 mg of Seroquel and some ativan and lithium....not fun) and I took a job because they said I could have flex time but then they decided they didn't want me on flex time so they made rules about when I had to be in and I was always 2 minutes late or something (I had a long commute so it was unpredictable) and always really tired and slow the first few hours of work (which wouldn't have been if they'd stuck to the flex time agreement). When I stopped it the weight poured off (and then gradually was gained back as Seroquel went up) and I just felt so much better.
My pdoc mentioned using a tiny bit of it to get me to sleep a few months ago and I almost passed out at the idea.

Effexor, carbamazepine, Zyprexa, (Dis)Abilify and Latuda. I was okay with lithium for a couple decades until it ganked my kidneys.

Lithium. It sucked hard and didn't even help me. I went toxic twice. Hands shaking so bad I couldn't even sign my name on the insurance papers. It was awful.

Any of the ones that made me gain weight... "Serofat" was the worst. Dopamax was bad. I could barely talk. Lithium killed my thyroid, but I still take it. Lexapro made me **** my pants. Risperdal made me leak milk Depakote made me retain fluid badly. Zyprexa made me gain weight but also caused akthasia. Darn.. why do we take these again? |

3200 mg seems like a real lot of depakote.
