For the past few months most of the time I'm home I simply just go to my bed. Even writing this post I'm in bed and have been all day. I woke up at 6 and just stayed in bed except to make food. I don't feel a debilitating depression, actually feel quite balanced but I'm still just heading to bed, I don't even watch tv. Why can't I avoid my bed.

Half the time I'm not even sleepy I'm just staring at the walls or surfing the Internet on my tablet.

Mr. Tea Biscuit and I move to bed right after we finish supper each night. We're tired, and it's more comfortable. We surf or read books, we even have our hot drinks and snacks in there, which is kinda gross - but to heck with it, we're crazy folk.
It just feels so nice and safe in there and like we're shutting out the world I guess. I'll get up periodically and tend to house-work , pet care things, but my husband stays put until morning. I guess that doesn't really answer your question, but I just wanted to say you're not alone. |

Why avoid it? It is a warm cozy cocoon that envelops us.
It is safe It is ours It is a good place to be

Wow, glad to know I'm not alone! I spend most days in bed, all day. I've had a propensity to do this most my life, depressed or not. My husband calls our bedroom the jail cell!

A learned pattern of behaviour, that is perhaps comforting, and distracts you from the hustle and bustle of the "outside" world and what's going on there, a quiete place, where you can think, possibly?

Actually do quite a bit of thinking here. I do want to get off as I don't think this is helping me.

Oh bed is a wonderful place to be! No one ever bothers you if youīre in bed. They carry on with their lives, you can hear them but you donīt have to join in, you can surf the net, you can empty your mind, you can simply *be*.
I love my bed. It is my favorite place in the world :-) |

I have to keep an eye on myself and go jump in the shower or take the dog for a walk or something if I feel myself sinking into that bed and hiding from the world in a bad way. Iīve found being there for too long isnīt the best thing in the world as I find myself sinking so try to keep getting up and stretching, walking a bit, do something every now and then but when it feels good itīs gooooooooooooooooooooooooood

Why leave somewhere that is safe, where you are protected, where you have to deal with nothing but the thoughts in your head. And being in bed, well that's the only place I have found that I can truly shut those thoughts out, for there, I can sleep through them.

Love, love my bed! I could stay there all day long. In fact I've done that many a time. It's so comfy and comforting!

I have chronic pain issues. I'm in bed lots too. I find that even when I"m feeling decent, and should probably be doing something, I can't find my way out of bed sometimes. For me, it's lingering depression. I have so much to get up and LIVE for, yet I can't. That is depression.
I'm sorry you are battling this. Are you sure it's not low level depression? Do you feel you have something worth getting up for? Does anything give you passion? Best of luck in fixing this problem. I have it too, and have no solution, only sympathy. |

I can't stay in bed for a long time. I'll start to feel unproductive. I have my days where I want to be alone but I prefer to be active.
