Sounds like they are still trying to figure out what your diagnosis. But mean while they know there is a mood diagnosis they're just not sure yet how to specify it.

My understanding is that it would meet some, but not all, the DSM criteria for the symptoms for a complete diagnosis of bipolar (any subtype) or depression.
They may just need more time to chart some of your symptoms, if the diagnosis is to change at all. |

NOS.. Not otherwise specified....
It can take months to a year or more to nail down a diagnosis of which Bipolar you may have. Some Pdocs are quick to name it, others wait and see how your illness cycles and how you respond to medications. Try not the let the "label" become a the focal point. Work on treating the symptoms and find ways to improve your life and find stability. Welcome to PC ![]()

I've been dxd no since 2008 and it's changed which one several times. I see a new pdoc and right now he has me as mood d/o nos. My t says he hasn't decided which one yet.

Well thats awkward. Did they switch you treatment too?
Remember that they are just trying to make sense of these things that have existed forever. So the names are the names and the types are the types and they are in place so they can try to figure out how to help us but it is not a cut and dry thing. Just try to get to know your own special "disorder". It is legit no matter what they decide to call it. HUgs |
