My doctor has placed me on what he calls "California Rocket Fuel". Lately nothing has been working, so he decided to use this rather unorthodoxed med combination to help me. I need to cope, so I have been hoping these meds will help me.

Has anyone been placed on this med regime? How did it work for you? I am also concerned about how the meds will affect my bipolar symptoms.

By the way, my big "hello again" to the old timers who are still posting here. Good to see all of you again!

California rocket fuel” is a medical slang term for the combined administration of Mirtazapine (a NaSSA) and Venlafaxine (an SNRI).

So this is Remeron and Effexor, hmmm, while I have been on both it has been too long for me to remember the effect they had on me but it must not have been good or I would have been on them much longer.

Ripose answered with what I had suggested before my response posted. Nevermind.

I was on those 2 together years ago without being told it was anything special. It didn't do anything for me except make my blood pressure go up (which was a weird side effect of mirtazapine after years of taking it). I was on a lot of mood stabilizers though so maybe that decreased the effect?

I was on Effexor years ago for a short while. When it kicked in, I was incapable of feeling any anxiety whatsoever. It was kinda nutty and fun.
