I hate being called damaged or vulnerable. Instantly makes me think **** you, I'm doing great considering the **** I had to deal with. Better than the person saying it. Even thinking about it makes me mad.

And, most of the patients on this ward were very, very unwell (as was I at the time). They were much too unwell to even recognize such. I got it. Now, not only do I see the other side, I refer to myself sometimes as sick when I am unwell. To me, it is so much more honest than "crazy." The instance with this pdoc really changed my perspective on this illness. I just thought I would share.

I hate it when people say, but you seem so normal!! Seriously. I'm happy I seem normal, but what would make you take me seriously? Running around town wearing a ****ing tutu and singing christmas carols?

I hate when people use the actual word "bipolar" when some one is acting differently or out of place. I used to have a boss who didn't know I was bipolar and she'd always throw it around.
One time this guy was acting like he was high on drugs and she was like, "I dunno he's bipolar." And it felt like a punch to the stomach.

I also don't like when people use phrases to describe people with mental illness like they're not humans. Like they're malfunctioning robots. Hate hate hate it.
