Hi guys,
My pdoc is away and from my online research it seems I might have early onset signs of tardive dyskinesia, but I can't be sure so I was hoping to get feedback from people who have experienced it... These are my symptoms: - Tension/tightness feeling in my neck - jerky head movement - jaw clenching - slight jaw chatter when talking - general sense of unease/anxiety I recently started geodon and have noticed these symptoms get progressively worse. I brushed it off at first but today it feels a little overwhelming. Thanks for your help!

It could be dystonia or akathisia instead. More common than TD. Are you taking Cogentin?
It will help minimize movement side effects.

I've read that geodon can cause jaw clenching so I really don't know. My pdoc is away until Monday, and the soonest I can see her is the 7th of September - ridiculous!

TD is a permanent form of dystonia.
Many antipsychotic meds cause transient dystonias that are not TD.

I'm on seroquel, and I'm always freaking out that I'm going to die from it. So I've read a little bit about other APs. I do seem to remember something about jaw clinching as a side effect.
Someone on here told me to check with a pharmacist. Maybe you could call, or walk in, and talk to one. They know a lot about drugs and possible side effects. My advice would be to stop taking your meds. Don't listen to me! That's really bad advice! Take care.

TD is more common when stopping a med than when starting one.
It sounds like you have EPS (extrapyramidal syndrome) which I have just been battling after starting a 2nd AP. They can treat the symptoms with meds. Cogentin helps a lot. I used valium for the rigidity as well. There are others that help. I had to come off because nothing was helping and the oral motor stuff was a problem but it can be successfully treated. It does need to be treated ASAP though because if it goes on too long it can become TD in rare cases.

Thanks for all the helpful responses. I'm going to make an emergency appointment with my pdoc as soon as she returns.
