In 2006 I was in a near catatonic depression and put on Seroquel and Lamotrigine. I gained about 30 lbs as soon as I went on those meds, and have fluctuated between 170 and 180 lbs since that time. I've remained on both of those drugs from then till now.

Two years ago I was put on Lithium and warned that I might gain weight. I still fluctuated within the overweight weight range as I'd been, so didn't notice any major weight gain..

In a major depression a few months back Wellbutrin was added. No changes to weight.

Then, a few weeks ago I finished tapering off Lithium (currently tapering off Lamotrigine too). Since then I have no appetite. I keep telling people that I've lost my appetite and hope I don't find it as a joke, but I'm wondering if I should be concerned.

I have to force myself to eat.

I've also been forcing myself out of the house (my depression is bad) and throwing myself into very physical work at my barn. I've been working for 4 or 5 hours at a near run, working at the pace I usually do when I'm hypomanic. But I'm still depressed. It's like I'm being a workaholic or something, or burying myself in the physical activity to distract from the depression. I feel like **** before I go, and again when I get back, but while I'm throwing myself into work, I don't notice my depression.

I should be hungry. I'm burning a lot of calories, but I eat a small bowl of cereal in the morning, and then work until I'm exhausted and still barely hungry when I get home at 8 or 9 at night.

I've been taking advantage, and since I'm not liking food anyway and having to force myself to eat, I'm making sure it's all healthy stuff. So what I'm eating is cleaned up considerably.

But I'm having a hard time getting enough calories suitable for a sedentary person on a diet, let alone a very active person.

I used to be able to shovel heaps of food down my throat. Now a banana is a challenge.

Anyone else experience changes like this?

I've also lost about 10 lbs since going off of the Lithium ( a few weeks I think?)

Since I got off the Lithium, I'm still hungry but certain foods now gross me out. It's weird.
