So some of you who have been following my threads know that I was back on Wellbutrin and it caused insomnia. When I went to my t about it she changed the Wellbutrin to the "sr" form and prescribed seroquel for sleep. Now I feel the dr isn't as effective in treating my depression. I felt a relapse of sadness. Today I took an xl and feel great and have energy. What should I tell my t, cause I think I'm better off with the xl than the sr. Can someone also describe the difference? Thanks for your help.

What is the difference between Wellbutrin SR and XL? They are both Wellbutrin but the difference lies in how the tablets dissolve and are absorbed, as such they have slightly different effects on the body.

The main difference between Wellbutrin SR and XL is the release potential of the tablets and therefore the dosing schedule. In general, Wellbutrin needs to be taken three times daily, Wellbutrin SR needs to be taken twice a day (slow release), and Wellbutrin XL only needs to be taken once per day.

It often boils down to just how your body metabolizes medications. Mine for instance, processes everything very quickly and when I take any meds I have to take higher doses in general.

It probably based on the different way its released in your body and how you process it. If you like one more than the other then tell your Pdoc which is fitting your needs better.
