Hi Everybody,

I suffer from Bipolar illness and currently taking a massive dose of both Anti-depressants and anti-psychotic drugs. However I notice my legs get extremely restless and I suddenly tense up and jerk, and it's painful.

Anyone had this? And what medication did you have that helped?

It is called restless leg syndrome and it can also occur in the arms (where I have it). The only relief I have found is from Ativan but their are many other options.

I totally had that, it was the worst. On risperdal I couldn't stay still. Once I went to just depakote my legs would tense up and twitch CONSTANTLY. It drove me up the wall.
I wound up switching to lamictal because I heard good things. I no longer have the leg issues at all except for the occasional twitch.

Talk to your doc. When I was on Abilify (devils drug in my opinion) I was on the lowest dose of Requip. It helped completely. I didn't experience any side effects which was nice.

Yeah akathesia can be terrible. I had it with geodon but used a small dose of cogentin to combat it. The cogentin worked really well to keep it at bay.
