i'm so glad summer is ending. i spent most of it inside due to a deep depression and social anxiety issue, but also because of the heat. i live in the mid-atlantic region of the US, where the humidity is real and the sun is unforgiving. I was wondering if any of you guys have sensitivity to heat and the sunlight, excessive sweating and thirst that is stronger in the summer. I know a lot of people not on medications can have these problems, but i think my meds make it a lot worse. as well, all of these sun and heat related issues cause so much agitation i just cannot bear to be outside some days!! I check the weather in the morning, and if it looks and feels bad, retreat to the A/C of my home. I get the thirst throughout the year due to lithium.

I'm from New York but live in Kentucky now, it's hell. I'm glad the summer is coming to an end. Looking forward to Autumn and Winter.

I feel the same way. Think it is a combo of meds and the toll the heat takes on a person. Was in California last summer, and even though it was a good vacation, it was HOT! Spent summer home in Norway this year...

I'm really sensitive to heat too (well, cold as well, but at least in the winter I can bundle up in three layers of clothing!). And if I'm going to have a depression episode, it always happens in the summer. Reverse SAD.

I live in new york city myself and i have to admit i can't wait for the fall, the leaves falling off trees the nice cold air blowing against your face and hair and no more sweating from that disgusting heat.

My meds make me very heat sensitive and I have very fair skin so have to be careful because some of them increase the risk of sunburn as well. Pretty much if it is over 80 then I'm stuck inside and above 78 can be pretty uncomfortable.
Years ago I had an assistant get really mad because I asked her if she'd do the patients in the outbuildings over the summer and then I'd do all fall because walking to them was so hard on me and made me sick. She thought I was making it up since I could walk from the parking lot to the door. It was a mess and such a stupid one because my taking the outbuildings for the whole fall would be a big sacrifice on my part b/c my job left me with less time for that than hers did. I never did figure out what her problem was.

I grew up n Florida so one would think I would be use to the heat, but even moving North to Tennessee its still hot humid and stifling.
I am ready for Summer to end, I love the fall, crisp mornings and great weather to be outside enjoying.. But Fall leads to Winter.. My Fibro pain is effected by all seasons, but Winter by far the most and worst. The joys of wearing my favorite sweaters ,boots and scarves quickly loses its appeal when I am thinking a high bridge will solve my pain issues. On a happy note " all things Pumpkin" is nice to look forward to. ![]()

I do NOT like the winter. I am in the North and the lack of light makes me very, very, depressed.
Possibly why I went off my meds last January. |

I can't bear the heat. I get b itchy, very low energy and hide in the house. It sucks the life out of me. I've told my family I will never visit them back East in the summer unless someone is dying, because the humidity is disgusting.
I'm VERY tolerant of cold and have gone through winters with arctic temperatures. Would take that over heat any day. I live on the balmy coast now and may lose my cold tolerance.... |
