I don't eat anything during the day but then I binge at night. What's up with that?

Until my recent change with seroquel I would not be hungry in the daytime then hungry before bedtime but I wouldn't be binge eating. Now it is the opposite. I wake up hungry and eat and then I am not hungry for the rest of the day.
Thanks for this!

I googled it and it explains my night time eating to a T. I feel so gross and ashamed when I wake up in the morning and realized everything I ate the night before.

For sure when I was on Seroquel. I would even sleep eat. I would not be hungry during the day, but as soon as I took my Seroquel at night I couldn't stop. Topamax helped, but I was as dumb as a box of rocks.

For sure! I felt so dumb on dopemax. And it did nothing for my appetite, so lose lose on that one.

I binge on Zyprexa. Cheese and bread seems to be a nighttime favourite. Ugh. Disgusting!

When I am depressed I don't eat anything really, even on Seroquel. When I am normal or manic, Seroquel makes me eat all day, but my benzotropine helps counteract the hunger pretty well, so I don't end up binge eating.

I'm in the sad minority where I had binge eating disorder well before my bipolar diagnosis. I cannot blame my bingeing on meds or my illness. I wasn't diagnosed till relatively late in life (32?) but I have had problems with food since age 4-5. Maybe always self-medicating but really hard habit to unlearn.

Definitely if you eat a lot at night, you won't be hungry the day after... not sure how meds are involved though.
Thanks for this!

I don't know but if you're not eating all day then your body might trigger a natural reaction to binge eat at night. It's actually not an uncommon thing. For the most part, Western Culture has us all eating backwards. We rush in the morning and either have only coffee, energy drinks, or tiny little meals (like a cereal bar.) Then small and quick lunches, then huge dinners. It's upside down.

Even if you're not working, you could be stuck in this pattern.

I work in a dietitian office and this is possibly one of the most common causes of weight gain regardless of the persons Dx or med history.
