I posted this on this schizophrenic forum, but I think everyone needs to see this film. The biopic on Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. This film was chilling and at moments had me in tears. I didn't know much about this genius, who was struggling with M.I. said to be a paranoid schizophrenic. It's not often movies can depict the topic that most people don't understand, this movie was exceptional. Truly inspiring, and he has defeated all the odds and he is actually the last surviving members of the brothers. When you get the time check this film out, you will not be disappointed.
Thanks for this!

Although I enjoyed this film and I did make it to the end it has many triggering scenes. I had to take some Ativan to make through the entire thing.
Thanks for this!

I loved this film!! i think most people in the audiences of theaters seeing this film aren't in the mindset to appreciate the depiction of mental illness as some of us who have MI or know someone with MI would. great acting, i love the music, the beach boys were incredible back in their glory days, but not everything is glamorous, as brian wilson was displayed in this film. so, so good and insightful. its NOT always pretty in hollywood.

Is it on netflix? Or is it in theaters still? Suppose I could look this all up myself.

I found it on Amazon (for rent). I'm 3/4 through the movie. I'm glad I'm watching it because it's really interesting, informative. Seems a bit long/drawn out, but still well worth the watch.

The movie brings so many questions to my mind. One of those questions is of a personal nature...an 'event' I have posted on PC about is hearing music in my mind- very detailed nuances of musical notation, songs, etc., to an extreme- often causes insomnia (or maybe accompanies insomnia)- is that always a symptom of mental illness? How is it any different than simply being a person who is hyper-aware of sound?

What a sad thing, that Brian Wilson's father abused him so. I feel quite sure that his physical abuse caused brain damage- Wilson mentions, in the movie, that he has hearing loss from his father beating him (although that is debatable; Brian might actually have been born with a hearing problem).

Anyway, lots of questions...and those questions being brought to light seem, to me, to be the mark of a good movie.

I literary just watched this movie tonight it was a great movie I rented it at redbox! I loved the movie and the music and was glad someone made a movie showing what really goes on in some people's head that guy was a genious and I think they should make more movies showing people what it's like to have mental illness and be different to many people stigmatize people with mental illness they need to make more movies about people with mental illness and raise awareness I wanted to punch Brian wilsons doc in the face for over medicating him I think that the movie should've been longer though

I was down sick w/strep throat today (fun , fun) and so I watched it. My husband rented it on redbox for me last night (been sick since sat, boo). I adored this movie. It's one of the best I've seen in some time and I highly recommend it!
