My sisters boyfriend wants to go on about how these meds are bad for me and how I need to stop. But yet he drinks and smokes marijuana regularly. So ummm...no I'm not taking advice from you.

My mom believes in medicine to a point. She gets paranoid about addiction as well and asks all sorts of stupid/loaded questions like "why are you so tired" and "are you gaining weight on the medication you're taking"? In truth, I honestly believe she feels shame about medication and considers it a crutch or a weakness that she might have to divulge to her friends. She's always wanted the perfect family. In many ways, I think she's ashamed I need to take medication to control my anger.

All I have are my daughter and husband, but they both support my need for meds.

I don't know if it is becasue of the bipolar or what, but I recently started coming out to my friends and family as bipolar and none of them are taking it well. They are all acting like they are the ones that have it or they are all in complete denial.

As for the meds, I can't bring those up at all.

I don't talk about it anymore because people think that I am bipolar because I want the "attention". Which all of us on here knows that that is a joke.

But at least we have this forum.... Hope your week goes well.

My pdoc totally agrees. Once I was diagnosed with BP she yanked my Cymbalta from 120mg to 30mg (I have too much anxiety to go to zero).

My mom is the same way and paranoid about all meds and they all cause cancer...blah blah blah. She does herbs! And they wonder where we get all of this from!? Pot meet Kettle

I only have my husband and some friends who know at all and I think they just like that I am taking them. They are very uninvolved.

The only thing that has ever annoyed me is a friend who has implied periodically that I am probably "strong enough" to handle not being medicated. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
