Just got a quick question - I have been on lithium for one and a half months. I am still going through my hypomanic cycle. Shouldn't it be working by now? The pdoc said my levels are within the therapeutic range. Thanks!

Do you know if you're low or high on the therapeutic range? Once I first hit the therapeutic range I still needed several increases plus an antipsychotic to stop cycling. I'm at the top end now at 1500mg and feeling much better. I've been able to reduce my Seroquel from 200 to 50mg since leveling out.

If your dose can't be increased you may want to talk to your pdoc about adding or substituting another med.
Thanks for this!

Thanks Wibbly! I probably am at the low end. I am at 600mg/day. I will talk to my pdoc next visit. Hopefully I can level this out.

I've been considérd at therapeutic at .7 for a long time but lithium doesn't do anything for me until 1.2. And thats a range of 600mg to 1800mg for me. Just because you are in the right range doesn't mean that there ins't room for adjustment. It takes time to find your balance of dose, blood leval, and side effects.
