Hi, ive just been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and am currently experiencing a manic episode.
I saw my doctor yesterday and he said if my mood shifts up or down or whatever to let them know but I got no idea if I have gotten worse or if I could even get worse in one day?

Basically last week I was on a complete high didnt sleep for 6 days but then started getting a few hours sleep up until last night where I did not sleep at all again and feel fine and have been quite happy and stuff but today I keep getting bursts of anger/frustration to the point that I want to go hurt someone when it happens.

Im also getting really stressed out now because EVERYBODY is looking at and judging me. Like before there were a few people but now EVERYBODY is, Ive had to shut my whole house up and it still feels like they can see me. It is really stressing me out like they seriously dont have anything better to do?

Anyway can anyone help me and give me some advise please because I know nothing about this.

Thank you

Hi, mania may come with irritability, a decrease need for sleep and not necessarily but also paranoia.

It is possible to get worse before you get better especially if you're not on any type medication, while reading on the forum is helpful it's always best to discuss your impressions with your doctor. Bipolar disorder is not easy to deal with and telling your doctor is a must. Best wishes..

I agree that you might want to talk to your doctor.... Did he put you on meds? And do you have a prn, which is a med you can take as needed?

I have Zyprexa for the times I'm throwing stuff or breaking things?

Do you feel safe or are you volatile enough to hurt yourself or someone else? If so, call your pdoc right away and/or go to emerg.

I hope you feel better soon and welcome!

I'd definitely call your doctor if you feel you might put someone else/yourself in danger. As for feeling everyone has "nothing better to do" than to judge you, it may be paranoia that can be associated with mania. Hope you feel better soon.

I've been there and I called my doc. Then I demanded to see him or someone that day. I was seen and given two meds one PRN and one for the insomnia.

I'm in the same boat with anger issues now. Trying out a different mood stabilizer woohoo. But yea everyone's right, you should be on some kind of med to bring you down. 6 days, holy crap! I know the anger is so frustrating but I just try and keep to myself in hopes I won't act upon my aggression and flip out on someone! Good luck!

Seroquel 300mgs
Trileptal 300mgs
Buspar 45mgs
Ativan 1mg PRN
