/Begin Rant

UGH...tired of not getting enough sleep and feeling jittery all the time. This is my second day of interrupted sleep and while I'm tired I'm too wired to take a nap. Add to that the head "zapping" and occasional dizziness when I get up, and it's not a fun time.

However, my pdoc is waiting for me to get another EKG to see if my prolonged QT has abated. She had me use Thorazine as a PRN but I might need to use it at night so I can sleep. I won't see her again for two months. We discussed seeing if I can put up with the jitteriness because the other APs prolonged my QT and the only one left that I haven't taken is Latuda. That may be an issue because I'm not sure if my pharmacy carries it, and due to my insurance I can't just go anywhere to get it.

I'm just hoping the jitters don't run into hypomania or start causing panic attacks. Then I'd really be screwed.

Freaking side effects!!!!

All I can say is I've been where you are, and I hope things work out with you. Can you see your doc sooner than two months if you need to?

If it gets really bad I can call the nurse's line and see what she wants me to do. However, she's really booked for the next month.

Your pharmacist will order it if you have a prescription for it.

I go to a military pharmacy. They might order it, but I've had other prescriptions that they didn't fill.

Right now I'm just riding this out and see if my body adjusts to it. I do know I need something for sleep, though.

I've never heard of these side effects before. In fact most people I know on Abilify swear by it. I hear over and over how it 'gave my life back', which I generally agree.

Talk to your pharmacist about side effects or drug interactions.

Can I ask if you were willing to take the medication or were you against it? Most psych meds take weeks to become effective. Perhaps your anxiety related symptoms are that you were jittery about the medication to begin with. How long have you been on it? Give it time.

I took Ability before with Wellbutrin. It didn't work that time, but that was because I was on an AD and not a mood stabilizer. I figured I'd try it again and see if it would work this time. The fact is I'm running out of options for APs because most of them cause prolonged QT. The jitteriness wasn't because of my thoughts about the med, because I was hoping it would work. I had a quick titration because when I took the full amount I had nausea and headaches, plus profuse sweating. It was like being on an SSRI for me.

I was depressed before I took Abilify. I had to go off Geodon rather quickly because I had a really bad prolonged QT. Abilify took me out of the depression but now I'm starting to get hyper. I hope this is just a good mood and not an upswing.

This is going to be a very interesting ride!
