I am a car guy and have been wanting a '69 fastback Mustang since I can remember. I have been given an opportunity to buy one cause unbeknownst to me my wife has been saving up for me to get one. The sad part is I am now depressed about getting my dream car and have almost lost any interest in picking one out.
Now before you think oh poor guy he has to buy his expensive car first off it will be one that will need work that I will do most of myself. I know that a project to work on would be nice cause it would get my fat butt off the couch. Maybe it is a fear that this would another project I would start and lose interest in and put it to the side like many of my hobbies from the past. I quit driving truck four years ago December because I started to rapid cycle and I felt I was no longer safe to be on the road. I had tons of hobbies before I quit but now all I do is sit on the couch watching T.V. I never thought being given a gift like this would be so hard or depressing. I also think that since I won't have the cash till the end of this month and being able to explore my options for different cars has really confused me as far as to what to buy. Lol poor me I get my dream car. It is times like this that I really hate being bipolar. Thanks for listening to me babble on about a stupid reason to be depressed. I just bought me a brand new 2015 Chevy Camaro. I regret it horribly. It was during one of my 'manic' episodes, then I was completely depressed afterwards. It is like an alcoholic on a binge drinking episode. I don't need the car, and the car note is a bit high. Then, a few days afterwards, I find out my job is trying to fire me.......I wish the bank never approved for me to get this car......it totally sucks. But, the car is awesome though.

Um...can I have that car? LOL...
I can understand where you are coming from. If it were me, I don't think I would buy it until I felt capable of putting time into it. It's ok to wait to a later date to buy it. |

I don't know. Sometimes it's romancing the dream, and when it comes true, it's not how I thought it would be so I experience a let down being its not all that.
Some dreams are just best to be left as that, dreams. You'll get over it. It might take awhile, then you'll realize that you were being silly. At least that's my experience. ![]() |

I've started things when I'm depressed, but feel overwhelmed because it's too much when the best thing I can do is just get out of bed. Then they sit around until I feel better. I have a couple of projects I've stopped because of this illness.
I guess I would say that if you get the car, don't beat yourself up for not getting to it every day. Start on little bits and work at your pace, not what you think it should be. |

Yeah I think I will try to find a decent runner drive it around and start collecting parts for a rebuild. I think I am going to try and take some welding classes at the local community college and when I am done start the rebuild.
Aupele did you go with the v8 or 6? I bought my wife a '14 V6 Mustang and that car is a blast to run around in just miss the torque of the V8. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You know I think you are right maybe since I have wanted this car since I was a kid I am afraid it won't live up to my expectations. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes, collecting parts will be a great way to get busy and think about the project ahead. I went with the V6, and it handles really well. The V8 is a monster though lol.
