Got my notice of termination today. Just lost a good paying job, lost a good paying job before that, and before that. Been on this 4-year roller coaster of 'job-hopping'. Just recently diagnosed 9 months ago w/ Bipolar II. Now I'm sitting at home, spazzing out on my Latuda, texting my sister, crying and thinking about the brand new car I just bought, and didn't need (during one of my manic episodes). Now, I'm looking at unemployment, car being repossessed, bills piling up, worrying more than I have ever before. I'm thinking of suicide, but not gonna do it (just thinking how much better everyone would be without me). My kids will suffer, so I won't do it.

Thank you. Yes, I will be applying for unemployment and I will look into assistance for vocational rehab (is that the same as unemployment)? I'm hoping my sister can help me out with Christmas and I'll apply at the Salvation Army as well. I just paid my cable bill, so I'm going to enjoy this month, then cut it off.

I'm so sorry to hear what's happened. You're going through so much right now, but I think you've got a good attitude. You'll get through this.

I'm so sorry you were fired. I can sure relate. I've never been able to hold a job longer than four years, and more often it's been less than a year. Miguel'smom had some good ideas for things you can do to help your situation. I hope things turn around for you soon.

I am so sorry. I know what it's like. If you can, take some time to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses on the job and see if another line of work might suit you better. Me, I wound up going on disability because I can't work, but your situation may be completely different. Try Vocational Rehab, they may be able to help you train for a less-stressful job. Work with the employment division too so you can polish up your resume and learn new interviewing techniques. Wishing you the very best!

I'm so sorry. I lost an awesome job last year too. You should be able to get unemployment. Companies usually don't fight it if there are medical or mental health issues involved.

My last job (2012) fired me and did try to block my unemployment. They lacked the proper documentation. I had been put on leave by my doc and was turning in my paperwork. Me and my supervisor were corresponding via email. At this time I was not diagnosed correctly (adjustment disorder and depression) although it was clear it was something else.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm struggling with work too. I've been fired multiple times in the past few years and really struggle with dealing with work stress. I have a really good job right now that I am close to blowing because I was transferred to a new manager who really pushes my buttons. It happens every time I work for someone that I have a personality clash with and it ends with me losing my cool then my job. I'm hoping that with therapy and medication I'm taking I can work through it. I hope you find something soon it's really hard with our condition to handle work stress and unfortunately the corporate world is unforgiving when it comes to mental health issues.

I've had 13 jobs and been fired from 5 of them. Working is tough on my anxiety and depression.
