So about a month ago I thought I had the stomach flu. It was very bad for a week, then I got better but it never really went away. I was also sort of sick on and off for months beforehand. Because I have a very long history of psychosomatic stuff and had been extremely anxious, I convinced myself it was all due to stress or, as my Dr. suggested, maybe IBS. But I just felt off, very tired, and lost a bunch of weight really quickly. Went back to doctor after a month of feeling like garbage and she ordered some tests. Found a lot of white blood cells in stool sample (gross, sorry). Wasn't scared until the culture came back negative for bacteria. The only other options are 1 kind of parasite or one of my absolute worst nightmares - Crohn's Disease / Ulcerative Colitis. I should find out the results re: parasite tomorrow, but I'm bracing myself for the worst case scenario, since both of my doctors seem to think it's pretty possible.

I've had a vomit phobia my whole life and this would just be really really hard to come to terms with. I'm so scared I can't think about anything else. I've scoured the internet searching for other possibilities - food allergies, viruses etc. - and can't find anything!!!

Anyway, just needed to vent some

***on an interesting side note, I googled "bipolar and Crohn's" and there is a lot of research on how they might be related

Vomiting doesn't look like a symptom. I hope it's neither. I'm sorry.

I have had stomach problems as well, they tested everything and couldn't ever find anything. I had pain, diarrhea and vomiting. I'm having a colonoscopy done soon as a last result. After two months I honestly think it's anxiety related. The only thing that helps is when I started my anxiety meds again. I had been off them for a few months. I will still have the colonoscopy done but I don't think that the dr will find anything. Good vibes going your way tomorrow when you get your results, good luck!

Sorry you're going through that stomach stuff is so hard because it feels out of control and is so connected to the brain...when do you get your colonoscopy?

I had severe stomach problems for several months a few years back and I concluded it was totally related to anxiety. Try some anxiety meds or cut some stress out of your life if possible before worrying about Crohn's. Hope you feel better soon!

I wish it was just anxiety-related - I thought it was until getting back abnormal test results :/ I did start anxiety meds though and they are definitely helping with the worrying/dread/panic...I feel like my fear of Crohn's is only slightly above 'average' I also took a long sick leave from work, which I'm very grateful for. I haven't spent this much time in pajamas (while not depressed) ever!

I hope you feel better. I have had problems for months and just received abnormal results from a colonoscopy so I have to go see my GI again and find out what it wrong. *hugs*

I had stomach problems my whole life that were diagnosed as several different things including IBS. It turned out I had Celiacs disease. Have any of you been tested for that? Finding out changed my life.

Yes, that was the first thing I was tested for actually. I kind of wish it would have been positive!
