I am sleeping way too much, 10-12 hrs a night. This leaves me tired the whole day. As I'm starting to work more, I can't afford to be tired all the time. I was doing some research on supplements that can help with energy, and I picked up some B12. I don't know if this will help, but it's worth trying. I know it's the saphris, and even though I'm not taking much it still effects me. This weather and darkness doesn't help either. Maybe I should try a light box.
Is there anything you take perscription wise or natiral for lack of energy? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I have the same problem with sleeping too much. I've come out of my most recent depression but I'm still having trouble breaking the habit. I'm taking methyl folate because my body can't metabolize folic acid into folate properly. It's an over-the-counter supplement which you can also get in prescription strength. I'm taking 15 mg per day, and I credit it largely with relieving my depression, and that of course has given me much more energy. Supposedly about 40 percent of the population have this health problem and it manifests in different ways with different people.

I take Ritalin but it doesn't seem to be helping as much as it did when I first started taking it. Of course, the doctor has raised my Saphris and Fetzima since then too. So it's hard to say why it's not working as well.

My pdoc said to be very careful with light boxes, as too much time with them can induce mania. My husband has one for his seasonal depression, but I haven't tried it.
You can also get your vitamin D and potassium levels checked. Both of those can drag you down. I don't know about Pennsylvania but Ohio has a problem with people not getting enough Vitamin D. |

I have hypothyroidism and I'm on meds. I have been on the meds for a few years and I've felt nothing different. I've always blamed my lack of energy on the BP meds, I'm on Seroquel. I recently went to another doctor who did a full work up with blood tests. My thyroid levels were low, anemic, b12 deficient, vitamin d and DHEA is way low. The doctor didn't know how I was getting by with all of this. What's crazy is I already take supplements and my vitamins. Your being tired may not be the psych meds.

Seroquel did this to me so I switched to risperdal. I was tired for a few days but I quickly got used to it. If it's that much of a problem just talk to pdoc and maybe change you're meds if needed. Blood work wouldn't be a bad idea either. B-12 is good however I'd recommend b complex because it has all of the b vitamins in it. There's a liquid b-12 that you take orally and hold it underneath your tongue before swallowing. That helped me as well.

B complex has helped me. Having my D level drawn a few years back showed I was extremely deficient and getting that corrected helped a good bit. When I was working I took Nuvigil/Provigil. Sometimes insurance covered it and sometimes it did not. I had to use it carefully and always carry a benzo so that if it kicked me up too high I could counter it quickly. But it worked well and I had few problems on it as long as we kept the dose as low as possible.
I have a light box that lets you set the intensity and time which reduces mania. I can only use it years I am stable because it can make me manic rather easily but when I use it I'm always surprised how much it helps. It's also blue light only which also reduces the risk of mania. It is similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Philips-goLITE...ips+blue+light

I've been sleeping too much as well. I go to bed very early and get a good nights rest. Then the next morning after sleeping 8-9 hours I feel like a train wreck. I take my 9 yr old to sleep go back home and sleep another 3 or 4 hours. On the weekends I have to take a nap just to stay up pass 9PM. I recently started taking B-12 and Vit D. I'll have to look into B Complex

There is some program that lets therapists acquire light boxes for clients to use for a season for free. That's all I know about it but my therapist did it last year for a few people and was happy with it. Maybe you can google and find it?
