I was wondering if any of you and experienced episodes while being on meds. Is it normal? Does it mean my meds aren't working?
I've felt manic for a few days and now I'm depressed. It didn't last as long as it did without meds. How often does this happen for you?

I have episodes on meds pretty constantly but we've never really found meds that stabilized me. The best we've done is make my cycling manageable for about a year. Ideally meds stop it completely and if you are having symptoms you may need something adjusted so might want to call your pdoc but it isn't uncommon to still cycle on meds with the hope being that it is less frequent and less strong. Some people have no cycling and others like me just have a reduction in symptoms.

Yes but I'm not stable yet. However, I go a lot longer between episodes and I have a lot less impulsive behavior and suicidal ideation.

I'm stable and haven't had any episodes in quite some time, I still have normal ups and downs but not full blown episodes. I am lucky that my meds work so well for me. It's different for everyone though

I don't cycle as strongly. My hypomania is under control and I haven't been depressed for 5 months.

Yes and it's usually when my meds need to be adjusted. I started cycling and found out my lithium levels were low. We are going up slowly but still cycling.

Yes, they're usually milder for me. Except for the depression which seems to be getting worse. I may need a med change for this one because it doesn't seem to be getting any better on it's own.

No. I haven't had an episode of depression in three years (I've had little hiccups here and there but nothing I consider an actual episode). I had a mixed/manic episode in january that was pretty severe and I ended up in the hospital but at the time I was only on lamictal and clonazepam.

I had a brief hypomania which turned to depression while on meds. But we were in the process of finding the right combination and dosages. That's now been accomplished and I'm stable. I hope you can consult your pdoc about this-- he or she may be able to tell you whether it's a concern or part of the adjustment process.

I essentially "broke" lithium when I had a major episode back at the end of September.
From what I learned about how the industry works is whatever you think your diagnosis is today may not be the case tomorrow. Think of medication dialing or tuning to the right station on a radio. The signs of episodes just means your still not at the magic combination of meds yet. I feel that doctors are just feeling around the dark with the diagnosis they maybe end up treating for the wrong thing. It's best to be proactive in your medication or else you'll get zombified with a huge stack of medication you don't need all just for the sake of the doctor thinking "well I think the combo works now" Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

Off meds I would have severe episodes that lasted months or even years. On meds, I tend to just have a few bad days here and there. It's way more managable. Although I will say I feel more like a yo-yo now. Instead of staying in one episode for a long time, I'm up and down a lot.

I do but it's not as bad as they had been. I'm still trying to hit the sweet spot as far as meds are concerned but most of the time it's some situation that destabilizes me for a while.

Since my ECT treatment a year ago I still cycle but it is much less intense. The hypomania is hardly even mentionable. The depression is still moderate but not as awful as it was. If I could find a led to help with depression more I would be happy.

I still have depression on meds but no hypomania. I have always had more depression than hypomania or mania. Have tried so many combinations of meds over the last 7 yrs but haven't gotten the right cocktail yet. I am trying to stay hopeful. See my pdoc tomorrow.

I am still cycling as severe if not more and I have been trying meds since July. I have in my signature what I am on. I don't know if meds will work for me.

Yes, I have frequent, and quite long episodes while on meds but I think we just haven't found the right combo. Are you experiencing episodes while on meds?
