Upon coming up on my 3 year anniversary of my first break I've come to a conclusion.
Psychosis builds you stronger for the future. Sometimes it takes a break at a critical point in our lives when we may be having to much stress, processing too much grief, or burying our emotions to regain a sense of self and reality. That is if we take the proper time to recover and don't jump back into everything all at once. It's a slow gradual process that takes time to get back to feeling like 100% again. It does happen though, people get back there and move beyond the episode and gain creativity, intelligence, experience, and build a stronger foundation of character. If one were to go back into psychosis again after fully recovering the first time then they will have the confidence to get through it again quicker then the first time and be back to normal sooner rather than later. For so long I would struggle with thinking that people were thinking about me in a negative way and took some time for me to just be me. I feel better and hope this helps someone who may have lost hope. For me one day I was just like, "hey you know I feel back to normal, and I'm happy again." Hopefully that comes sooner rather then later for you, but in the mean time keep journals and track your progress and stay on medicine. |

Thank you for sharing this. It does seem like a long road to recovery sometimes, but I'm sure it'll be well worth it in the end.

Thanks for this. However, I've given up ever feeling normal again. I feel like the break changed me.
