Ive been taking Abilify for two weeks and I'm still really antsy and can't stay still. They upped my dose all the way to 30mg which is high. I feel I can handle it, but not for an extended period of time. The dr put me on Cogentin, which he took me off of because it made me high, euphoric. Which I guess happens in a small percentage of people. It felt better than weed. But now I am just sick and tired of the akathisia, and they say take Benadryl, but I don't want to sleep all day. I am hoping that this goes away. Anybody have experiences?

I had some akathisia after taking Latuda. You know what worked for me? Drinking a glass of milk.
I think it has to do with the # of calories you are consuming with your medication. |

I was given gabapentin to help with a severe akathesia (so severe I was IP and pretty much completely unsedatable no matter what was given). It pretty much worked in a day. I took the first dose and about 3 hours later sat down in a group for the first time in the 4 or 5 days I'd been IP. Prior to that I did all groups standing at the back so I could leave and pace and if I sat it was in a desk chair so I could sway. Two days before gabapentin I was on 1:1 just to try to keep me doing art activities instead of pacing endlessly and then with the gabapentin I was suddenly calmer and actually quite sleepy once I'd had 2 doses. After all the agitation and huge doses of Seroquel, hydroxyzine, benadryl, fairly big dose of Zyprexa, tons of klonopin and valium and who knows what else it seemed impossible that one dose would help but it did. They usually give it in conjunction with propanolol at my hospital. I couldn't have propanolol because I already have very low blood presssure so I combined it with cogentin.
