I have to wait three days before I can get into the hospital for my crazy manic episode I'm having. I've driven to somebody I hate's home, knocked on the door, and waited so I could punch his face in. Luckily, nobody was home. I can't sit still, all I want to do is pace around everywhere. I keep seeing people in my home, I want to smash other cars off the road. Everything is just really bad right now. But the hospital told me I have to wait until Tuesday. How am I going to do this? I guess just keep taking Benadryl, and hope for the best. My pdoc dropped me because I missed an apt. So now I'm without a pdoc too. This is hell.

Take your colonazepam as needed. Call around to other hospitals to see if they have a bed. You'll come here and type everything. You can get through this.

I second the E.R. In the meantime try and stay home, avoid anything stimulating, and take a PRN if you have one. You could also listen to some meditation podcasts.

I agree-- an ER visit would be a good option. Three days can be a long time when you're in rough shape. I'm sorry your pdoc dropped you over a missed appointment. That stinks.

Can you call and see if they will authorize a decrease in one of the AD?

I went to the ER and they tried endlessly calling psych hospitals and none of them said I fit the criteria for admission (wanting to hurt others or yourself). I hate Wisconsin and they're ****ed up rules. (Excuse my language)

Glad you went to the ER but sorry that they didn't let you stay there. I have never heard of hospitals running out of room before. Best of luck to you!

That's weird. In August I went tot he ER and they kept me there until they had a bed. 30 hours in the psych ER. It was a LONG wait but once I was there and they'd determined I was a danger to myself I couldn't leave and didn't want to leave anyway so I waited. It wasn't too bad except for the food which was the same meal over and over and was stone cold each time. I was starving by the time I had a bed. But they did get me a bed and it was on the appropriate unit.

In Australia it is the same in the public hospitals;you only get admitted if you are a danger to yourself and others but in the private system you can be admitted as a pre-emptive strike so to speak. Doctors can admit patients who are going down hill to catch it before you become a danger.
