I've read that low dose Abilify does different things than a high dose. Which is more activating? I took 20 mgs but got off of it quickly because of twitches and restless leg. Would a low dose do the same? Are there any meds that help with this side effect? I ask because I'm willing to drop risperdal and give Abilify another try.

There's a few questions I have. Does it help with mixed episodes and iritation/rage/moodswings? If so, at which dose?

Now a big one, are there sexual side effects? That is the main reason I want to quit risperdal.

What time of day do you take it and why? What dose?

Thanks in advance!

Abilify is a fine drug. 20mg is on the high end. I was on 10mg for a while. The restless leg and can't sit still feeling was rough for about 3 week - just gotta power through it. Chocolate Milk w the meds at bedtime works best for me.

Does that help?

I started on 6 mg of Abilify and it worked well especially for depression for me for a while, but when I was hospitalized recently they bumped me up to 15 mg.

Even with the 6 mg I experienced increased anxiety for a few weeks. Strangely, it also made me super sleepy for a few weeks too. I'm experiencing something similar now and it might be due to the increase.

Does it help with mixed episodes and iritation/rage/moodswings? I am on it because of a mixed episode. My husband is on it for mania and my son is on it as a mood stabilizer. I'm on the shot version. My son is on 10 mg and my husband is on 20 mg. My libido and my husband's is intact too.

We all take are meds at night with chocolate milk also.

Low doses are usually just used as an adjunct to antidepressants

I take 20 mg daily and have no known side effects. I am also on Latuda, so my doctor is thinking of lowering the Abilify. It's been a good medicine for me, but I think I prefer the Latuda as it reduces my anxiety. I take so many meds though that it is hard to be sure what does what.
