My pdoc moved my lithium dose up to 1500 mg. Is this a dangerous dose? He also added Trileptal. I am just a little worried considering all lithium can do to people. Is this a normal dose even?

Lithium is dosed by blood levels, not by numbers. So if that's what it takes to get you to the level the dr. wants then it's fine. You definitely need labs to monitor your level but everyone is different on how they process lithium. I've gotten toxic before taking only 450 mg because I'm really sensitiive to it but most people (and I was one of them before my first toxicity) take a lot more than that.

I agree with BeyondtheRainbow, it all depends on your blood levels. They need to be within 0.6 and 1.2 to be therapeutic and safe. Have you had blood tests done since the increase?

I had blood tests done this morning and then later he upped the dose, so it's probably fine then. Thank you.

I was on 1800mg but got toxicity and ended up in the ICU for a week with kidneys failing, put on dialysis and had seizures
