Hi,

So my Psychiatrist said the other day that at the moment I have rapid cylcling bipolar and paranoia.

He started me on Abilify but told me nothing about it. Can anyone share some of the side effects or whether it worked or not for you? Im also on Seroquel IR 600mg

Thanks

I'm not on abilify, but im on latuda which is very close. Pdoc told me no abilify since it causes weight gain more than latuda.

Hope someone chimes in who can help ya with the abilify.

I had Abilify added to Lamictal and Wellbutrin last January. It made me anxious (first time I'd experienced anxiety) and more depressed. I changed pdocs, and as I talked about where I was at, specifically the above, he immediately said "the Abilify is causing your anxiety and worsening your depression." Got off it and the anxiety went away almost immediately. The depression lightened too. Your mileage may very, but I thought it telling that he immediately pinpointed the Abilify as the source of my anxiety.

My whole family is on abilify . My boys take the pill and I take the shot. It stops our mania and my psychosis. I haven't seen any side effects with it.

Ive been on abilify for just shy of a year now. I had restless leg pretty bad for about a month on it. I also gained 30 much needed pounds due to out of controll evening hunger. But for some people the weight is not needed so theres that. It also made me sleepy for the first month or so. After several months the only side effects left are evening hunger and the odd case of restless leg. Hope this helps!

I was on it for about 4 months before I got one tardive dyskinesia and had to stop it. It worked so-so for me. Once I stopped it everything was good, but the doctor said if I hadn't caught it early it could have been permanent.

I was on abilify for couple of days... It made me feel like i was having a worst hangover of my life so i just quit it. i've heard it works well for some people causing no weight gain or having any negatives at all.

I have taken Abilify for a couple of years now. My cycles are less pronounced, but they are still here. So far its the best medication for me. I have restless limbs also, but not very often and it mostly occurred when I was also on adderall. Abilify doesn't agree with everyone, but for me, it has been a life saver. Med changes are rough, I say give the Abilify a chance (a few weeks) and good luck to you.

I was on abilify for unipolar psychotic depression. I didn't have any effects - no desired effects and no side effects. I recently tapered off.

I think it's curious that previous posters talk about weight gain - pdoc told me it was mostly weight neutral and was even known to cause weight loss sometimes.

I took Abilify for a few weeks...just long enough to become even more depressed than I already was.
