Yes. I've gained weight too. And am a little lazy. I read books. But shun exercise other than swimming. Now I have no ride. Boo-hoo

I'm on Latuda, makes me sleep so take it at bedtime. Ended up very agitated and restless after recent upped dosage and to get prescription to counter that but it's working great for my depression

Try Zyprexa Zydis. For whatever reason many people, myself included experience little to no weight gain from it.

Latuda gave me horrible akathisia. I had to take like 3 meds to get it to go away. It was horrible. I was on it for 3 months and it was a horrible 3 months, lol. I'm happy it works for you though.

I used to be on antipsychotics, mainly for skin-picking however they all gave me mania. I'm not sure why ap's are still prescribed for bi-polar when there is a more natural remedy such as lithium. Even at smaller doses there can be a benefit. People say it's dangerous but the problem most people have is they don't the right precautions when using lithium.
Like drinking 8 8 oz glasses of water a day to balance your sodium and potassium levels, eating a low carb healthy diet and exercising. I've been on it now for about a month and there is some nausea etc, but I follow the docs orders and it works wonders.
Personally I can't stand ap's

Yeah the goal is to come off zyprexa. But I went into a really bad psychosis in 2011 and have been on them since. I think if you've lost touch with reality you're more willing to go on them . When I went into that psychosis, I hadn't eaten or slept for 5 days. It took them awhile to get me to sleep in the hospital. Took even longer to get me out of the psychosis.

Recently I lowered my dose of zyprexa really fast and got really paranoid and scared once it was leaving my system. It was awful. Idk, I would love to be able to come off them but I'm not sure if I'll be able to. And the zyprexa has really helped with my other symptoms as well.

But oh the weight gain sucks!

I was on Cymbalta until June and then we figured out it can cause Mania. It took me six months to get off of after being on it for 7 years! My pdoc wants me to try Latuda, but I'm scared of weight gain and restless legs. Ugh!

I would give it a chance. It helps a lot of ppl. They put me on 40 mgs then 60 mgs way too soon. With my history of akathisia they should have started me on 20 mgs. Oh well live and learn...

Zydis was the one reason I could take Zyprexa again. I didn't gain any weight from it.

Because lithium doesn't work for everyone. I had side effects even at a low dose that didn't show a therapeutic level in my blood...and it wasn't nearly as helpful as any AP I've been on.

Latuda is supposed to be weight neutral, and for me it has been. It's also been a godsend.
Thanks for this!
