I am severely manic right now and for the past two days I have been full of rage. I have been trying to act normal and be welcoming to the new members for the past week. I can't deal with that right now. I am Bipolar type 1 I'm pretty sure (but I'm diagnosed Bipolar unspecified) I have been manic since before I went into the hospital last June but back then I hardly even noticed. I have severe mania and I am full of rage currently. I have been full of rage like this for the past 2 days and it seems to be getting worse. I want to hurt people and things and I need to go to the hospital but I am stuck in my apartment with important obligations that I cannot dismiss. I have to request the head manager in my apartment complex to get a patch of missing carpet replaced because I failed my housing inspection because of that and it needs to be replaced by the 4th of February. Because on the 4th of February is when they are doing my re-inspection to see if my carpet being patched up passes. And then if it passes I have to go to my re-certification appointment not long after that. So honestly with all my obligations that I have to take care of or I will lose my housing, I don't know what to do. And I took my night time meds including my Clonazepam and it doesn't even seem to really be helping. What do I do? I don't want to do something stupid like hurt someone . I can't go to jail, I have no criminal record at all and I want it to stay that way. Besides even if I do hurt someone it's because I'm not mentally all right here right now. What do I do, just stay in my apartment and not go out unless I'm taking my dog potty or to go to the office and request that they get my carpet repaired? Someone please help me I don't know what to do. I don't want to hurt anyone or anything deep down. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa whoa whoa whoa ...

I know this is going to sound stupid, but take a deep breath and try to calm down for a second. The fourth of February is more than 2 weeks from now, plenty of time to get the carpet fixed, no?

Can you please clarify what "community liason" means, within the context you're using it?

Also PS: I totally identify with the manic rage. Last time I was in a manic stage I was super super super aggressive to the point that I got detained by cops and sent IP.

This might sound kind of silly, but it might help you a bit. Go to the store and get one of those inflatable punch toys (or two) and beat the hell out of it. I'd say get a punching bag but given you live in an apartment that doesn't seem like an option.

When I was 15 I asked my mother to take me to see a mental health professional, but she refused, insisting I was fine. I was actually pretty mixed at the time. I did, however, convince her to get me a punching bag which we hung under an overhang in the back yard. It helped me channel my manic/mixed rage in a way that didn't hurt anyone or break anything.

Also really important question I just thought of: Have you ever hurt someone before OR do you have means of hurting someone specifically? Because if so, you should call 911 (or a crisis line immediately).

(I'd recommend crisis line personally, cops showing up seems to escalate what would otherwise be innocuous situations in my experience Crisis Services | 24-Hour Help Hotline)

I agree- I say crisis center or ER. If you don't take care of this right away you will end up there anyway, but in much worse shape. If your apartment building gives you a hard time, you have an excuse. You were sick and would be able to provide any paperwork showing you were hospitalized, if you do wind up getting hospitalized.

I'd go to the hospital. You can always tell your apartment complex you were sick and in the hospital. Carpet is not a good reason not to get help. If you are really feeling like you may hurt yourself or someone else, you need to go. *hugs*

Hey sweetie, can you have your fiancé take care of your obligations for you while you go to the hospital? Feb 4 is more than 2 weeks away, and if you go to hospital voluntarily instead of commitment, you'll be able to leave when you want, at least around here you can.

Does your doctor have a crisis line you could call? Or maybe call the on-call doctor from your doctor's office to see if they can help you, see if they would authorize an extra dose of your clonazepam to calm you down? I don't know how often you take it now, but they may give the OK to take another dose. Can't hurt to ask. If you go to the hospital can your fiancé watch your dog? Sorry you're going through this, hang in there!

I work as a foster mom for a pet rescue group.
You could contact one in your area and see if one of the volunteers will take care of your dog if you decide to go ip.

Here's a link to a spot on the forums that says what a Community Liaison is.

I've hurt my Fiance and my sister but it was never reported to the cops. But I also don't know what you consider hurting people. I just hit them. And if you mean "means" as in like a knife or something besides a kitchen knife then the answer is yes, but I'm not having rage issues today at all for some reason.

Well, I'm just going to try and stick it out until I get my carpet fixed and my re-inspection done and then get through my re-certification appointment. I always hate this time of year it's so stressful. I have to go through the apartment inspection and re-certification appointment every year it's annoying. That might be partially why I have been having rage issues because my inspection was failed because the missing carpet I was told was a tripping hazard (even though it was the same way last year and they passed it no problem) and now I have to pay for it in increments because the manager in the leasing office said they wouldn't cover it. So, I'm not exactly too pleased with that. Plus I just have to hope to God the person that comes and inspects it again thinks the carpet job was good enough and was up to his standards. Honestly, the guy was a total asshole.

But actually today I've been fine. I didn't scream at my dog or cat or get full of rage about anything or for absolutely no reason. I've been in a fairly good mood today surprisingly.

Lol, you don't seem to understand how he hospitals here work. Every time I've gone I've been in for a minimum of 7 days, nothing less then that, and I've been in the hospital 3 times in 3 years.

No he doesn't, I go to a s**** *'*** clinic in the ghetto. I called my PCP's office last night, all they could tell me was to call and make a same day appointment and see if the doctor can help me somehow until I see my Psych doc. And no, my Fiance can't take care of my *'*** dog he has a *'*** job for god sakes. He doesn't have time to take care of a dog.

I don't have a friend that can take my dog he has no way of getting it there because he doesn't have a car and he takes the bus and I live way far away from him. I don't have any friends that could take care of my dog. I don't have many real life friends. Most of my friendships are online. Some of them live in the same city as me and I have never met them in person.

My Psychiatrist isn't even a licensed Psychiatrist. She's a stupid *'*** NP that doesn't seem to know jack ****. My last appointment with her which was December 2nd, she was filled in on the situation of me being manic for almost a year by me and she still did almost nothing to help me. All she did was upped my Oxcarbazepine dose from 1200 MG to 1500 MG. Lol, big difference right? A whole 300 more MG, that obviously didn't help for ****.

My Support Forums

My Support Forums is the online community that was originally begun as the Psych Central Forums in 2001. It now runs as an independent self-help support group community for mental health, personality, and psychological issues and is overseen by a group of dedicated, caring volunteers from around the world.
