I'm experiencing a lower sex drive.
It used to be really high, and now it's dead. Based on the meds I'm on, I wonder which one or ones are causing this unpleasant side effect? Orgasm is such a great natural way to combat depression and stress.

Effexor. It killed my sex drive. But adding in the Wellbutrin seems to have brought it back.

Thanks. I've been on a ton of meds in the past. This is my first go around w Effexor.
Was it hard to get off ? I was on Wellbutrin a long time ago. Can't remember why I went off of it. Probably med Burn -out. Thanks! Pura Vida!

I'm still on the Effexor, but Wellbutrin added to the cocktail helped. So I guess the combination of the two balance each other out.

It's all so tricky huh? I know I shouldn't be tempted, but I was reading Mad in America this am. It always makes me feel bad for being on psych meds.

Yea it definitely is a delicate dance with all these meds. 400mgs of Wellbutrin had me feel like a zombie, 200mg didn't really do much, but the increase to 300mgs seemed to do the trick. Last year 150mgs of Effexor wasn't working, and so I went up to 225mgs, and that sent me hypomanic, and so I had to come back down to 150mgs. Gotta love bipolar meds.
 As far as being on them, I know others have their opinions, but if they could live in my head for just one day, maybe they could see why I want them. The pain, torture and confusion can be unbearable sometimes. I guess I'm willing to take my chances. |

Yeah. Last 5 ip's last year and the dreaded ECT brain fry have given me motivation to stay medicated.
Most people would Freak Out even if they had an hour in my shoes( head inc) Thanks Gina. You're a Doll!

I've had to kiss my sex drive goodbye in order to make room for sanity. But my bf works third shift and I'm working now, plus his two kids running around. Our sex life has dwindled down to random quickies when one of us is half asleep
 Trileptal 600mg BID Buspar 45mg Seroquel 150-300mg for sleep Ativan 1mg PRN Vyvanse 70mg Risperdal 4-6mg PRN I don't get msgs unless the other person using tapatalk app! |

Pristiq lowered my libido significantly (very similar to Effexor XR). Prozac obliterated it. It's returning now free of meds for 2 1/2 months.

Hi Wanderlust.
I know if I were med free my sex drive would return. I still think about sex all of the time. I wish that I could find a way to be med free too. I think everyone with Bipolar has had that secret desire. If miracles can happen who knows. I don't want to be on meds for the rest of my life. I've kicked the pain pills. I've wondered if anyone has tried to take meds every other day.

I'm not advocating being med free, it's not helped my situation much at all but neither did the meds
