Does anyone have some creative ways to save money?
I basically hold my checks and rarely use my credit card any more. But that isn't too creative. |

Check out YNAB - youneedabudget.com - it's life changing. The word budget has a lot of negative connotation (restriction, etc.), but that's not what this is about. It's a program that helps you to give every dollar you have a job to do, even if that job is to sit in your savings account waiting for when you need a new roof, or a vacation opportunity sometime in the next few years.
It syncs through dropbox with handheld devices, so it can be used anywhere you go. The Classic version is a one-time cost; the newer version is cloud-based and is a subscription service. I use the Classic and don't foresee changing. We have saved a TON of money, just being more intentional and aware about how we're spending. |

No credit cards, I learned that lesson. I also have my bills come out of my account the same day I get paid. So essentially the money I have left is for spending. Since I get paid biweekly, it usually depends on due dates for what gets paid when.
If that makes any sense... |

Oh and as far as saving, have the money go directly into a savings account you don't have easy access to. No debit card! When you don't see the money, you don't miss it and it piles up quickly.

If your employer has a voluntary savings plan (like a pension, etc), participate. It comes right off your cheque, so you force yourself to save

I always pay bills same day I get paid too. Otherwise I'll spend too much and not have enough for necessities. Also, I tell my husband before any big purchase so he can tell me if its a good idea or not. He has a credit card and I don't. I don't ever get access to his card either.
