Hi guys! So I went back to my doctor to discuss the recommendation some of you gave about taking Buspar/buspirone. She prescribed it and yesterday was my first day. So......I’m stressing out over having to take 15mg tablet and splitting it in 3 and taking it 3 times a day. Plus it has to either be taken with food each time or not at all otherwise your dose can get messed up. I’ve already messed up cutting up a few pills because they are a pain in the @ss to cut. Should I be concerned with doing it just so. Did it make a difference if you weren’t perfect with it? Did it create side effects, etc.

See, this is why I’m on anxiety meds. I become obsessed and anxious! Thanks

I took it only briefly a long time ago. First at 15 years old and a second time at maybe 35 years old. It didn't do me any harm, and didn't give me any memorable side effects, but wasn't particularly helpful either, at least at 35. However, my dad took it for years and said it was beneficial for him. The only side effect I remember him talking about was vivid dreams, and that he occasionally woke up punching his side table. He seemed to think that was buspirone related.

Your question about pill cutting perfection is best directed to your doctor or pharmacist, but I, personally, wouldn't sweat minor size differences, especially if I took exactly one pill per 24 hours. I do recall it being a unique pill in having two grooves (3 sections).

Don't drink grapefruit juice with buspirone. You'll surely see that in the paperwork.
Thanks for this!

All buspar did for me was make me nauseous about 45 minutes after taking it. It didn't help my anxiety at all.

I think your pill cutting is fine. Don't worry about it.

I love Buspar it has been a lifesaver when it come to anxiety, I am on three 10mg tablets for a total of 30mg a day. I have been on two 5mg tablets a day but I find the three 30my work the best. I usually take it in the morning with no food, take the afternoon pill with food and the night pill with food in my stomach I haven’t noticed a bit of difference at all food or no food. The ones I am on have are super easy to snap, but mine could be a different manufacture; and Buspar is on the lower end of side effect profiles and non addicting.

Also avoid grapefruit juice on it like Birddancer said.

I am not perfect and there is no difference. Though I take it 2 times a day. The only time I noticed a difference was when my mail order pharmacy forgot to send my Buspar, and I didn’t have any for around a week. Once I started it again, I realized it did lessen my anxiety. I had thought it was not doing anything, but it actually was helping some, though not as much as benzos like Klonopin.
