I hate medications and I've been on them since 13 and am turning 26, so almost half my life( My mother made me take depakote every night until I was about 16 )

I'm worried how much damage they have done to my brain. New studies have found that your brain is capable of rewiring and healing itself naturally. Alternatives. Diet, exercise, meditation, spirituality, therapy, and many natural remedies are important living a life drug-free. Understanding your stressors and triggers.
Maybe finding a holistic doctor.
I'm a bit anti-psych, but I do not deny they help many people. They've helped me, but like you've said in many instances have probably done more damage than good.
I'm not on too much now, my biggest problem is falling asleep without something.
Remember it's your choice, if you need them now don't think you have to stay on them forever.

I liked the idea of not having to be on them forever.

If I don't look too far into the future I feel better. Ekhart Tolle wrote a great book called The Power of Now. I have it on CD too.
