My pdoc finally got back to me this evening and prescribed lexapro. What are your thoughts and experiences with this med? I'm always afraid of mania but zoloft did not make me manic so I know I don't have an exaggerated response to all anti-depressants. Just curious.

Hello cashart: My only experience with Lexapro was that shortly after I started it, I developed little red pinprick-like dots all over my lower legs. When I mentioned it during one of my appointments, I was taken off of it immediately.
Thanks for this!

Lexapro meant a month-long fun hypomania, and it didn't work very well to keep my crash from going to extreme lows. No side effects though.
Thanks for this!

Cashart if you have ever valued my opinion on anything DO NOT take Lexapro .... it was the trigger that started me down the rabbit hole I am in today ...

((if you must)) .. watch yourself and have your husband watch very carefully ... I pray you are ok on it ... sorry if I sound rough but it put me ip .... but then what the hell do I know ... after all I am Crazy right ....

I took it years ago and I remember it did nothing for me and I was switched to cymbalta. A friend had the same experience recently. Personally I'm not a fan, but I know something that doesn't work for one may work for the other. I hope it works for you and you are able to find relief.
Thanks for this!

Idk
I tried two anti ds
Prozac made me on the edge of crazy the whole time
And now I look back..effexor seemed to work at the very beginning then started making me much much worse
The best thing for my particular brand of depression are anti PS
But others have diff responses. Unfortunately u have to wait 4 to8 weeks to really know

Sorry I don't remember why, but I didn't do well with Lexapro.

ONCE AGAIN... I got a call from the pharmacy saying that I cannot have the drug until my pdoc okays the at least moderate interaction between lexapro and another med (clozapine). I'm beyond frustrated with my pdoc but I can't change it until we get new insurance through my husband's new work (90 days).

Did work for me at all. But I don't recall it making me hypomanic like Zoloft did.

Lexapro was a godsend for me until it pooped out. No major side effects (maybe a few extremely minor ones in the first week or two), and it kept my depression and OCD at bay without causing hypomania. I was really sad when I had to come off it because it was no longer working.

My advice probably isn't valid since I don't have BP but I am on Lexapro and works for most my anxiety. Not much OCD or performance side of social anxiety. Other than that, I feel a lot better on it. I wasn't really depressed this winter which was a first because I was three and two years ago.

Social anxiety disorder, GAD, OCD, and panic attacks

Lexapro, 10 mg

It's a very safe AD in my opinion. The most selective of all. The only reason I switched back to Cymbalta was it made me a little too calm and I lacked motivation.
